ahh... it all depends... you could have a netbook with Linux, XP, vista, and maybe at a later stage you will have netbooks with windows 7

As far as I know you cant upgrade from XP to Win 7, you have to do a clean install. You can from vista to win 7.

If your client's not in a hurry he can wait a couple of weeks when more and more products will be realeased with Win7 pre-installed...it's cheaper and easier, and I did see that Laptopdirect has a few already with Windows 7.

Otherwise you'll have to buy the full Windows 7 Retail Pack separately (if the laptops have xp)...and that's about R1300 for Windows 7 Home Premium.

At the moment there are two main options, bearing in mind that Vista Home Basic is not upgradable:

1. Download the upgrade from Microsoft (±2.5GB) and be left without discs.
2. Pay a ±$30 shipping fee to have Microsoft/the laptop vendor post the discs to you (HP South Africa will reimburse the shipping fee with a Mastercard voucher).

Haven't seen any laptops with Windows 7 preinstalled yet, but I know HP started shipping them on the 23rd, and we will only see them towards the end of the year.

I cannot believe that suppliers/retailers are not able to supply an upgrade CD. Microsoft & vendor policy apparently...

All notebook ads I've received this week indicate win7.
If you can't find one, then the upgrade for vista to win7 winds up being another R500 or so. :P
