13 HD channels, sure you wont find something there worthwhile e.g. sports or movies? Picture quality is seriously better (on a FHD flatscreen TV)Nothing in HD is worth it just yet.

All I want is a Dual View HD PVR....

For a sports fan you're seriously missing out. This is why I'll patiently wait for the new PVR. I am not moving from my SD-PVR till then. Nothing in HD is worth it just yet.
Not sure. Thing is, I don't think they can just upgrade decoders over the air, to run the new OS... So I'm not sure that we will see it on existing decoders.
Yes, they can. 4P PVR has been updated everytime the 2P was, they can do it over the air. Let's just hope they decide to support the 4P with the new software, but it may be that the 4P's hardware does not have enough oomph.
Is it going to be PACE or UEC??
I'm talking about the new software, not upgrades of the existing. Different story.
Any release date? Still the first Q of 2013?

I am talking about being able to get new software onto the PVR over the air. From the PVR's point of view there is no difference between loading completely new software or just updating the existing software... either way there is new software being downloaded and applied.
There is a big difference between doing "updates" and feature enhancements on top of the OpenTV middleware, and replacing that middleware entirely which seems to be what is being contemplated
ok, I'm glad you know...I am talking about being able to get new software onto the PVR over the air. From the PVR's point of view there is no difference between loading completely new software or just updating the existing software... either way there is new software being downloaded and applied.
Not just contemplated. OpenTV is a thing of the past with the new software...
I'm being cagey because Multichoice have no officially announced anything as of yet.
They won't for a while still. But the new software is theirs entirely - built from the ground-up...
