New HDD for PS3

Guys....you cant put a 3.5" hard drive IN a PS3.

You need a laptop drive such as the Seagate Momentus 750GB

Do you have a Phat PS3, Slim PS3 or super Slim PS3?

Its for a the phat PS3. The 750GB you mentioned has a height of 9.7mm. That is 0.2mm greater than the standard 9.5mm. Would this work or will it be be too thick?

Just watch those temps. Apparently a 7200rpm drive may cause excessive heat problems. Personally I doubt it.

No problems with heat. I had it in an enclosure for about a year before I stuck it in the console.

Quick update: The Seagate Momentous Thin installed perfectly. 7mm height was irrelevant, and it's a quiet hard drive as well.

I was worried that since it was a thinner hard drive, it might not fit properly or snugly into the dock. Well, it fitted perfectly.
