Personally I don't like the styling. It looks too vulgar.

It's reported to have around 230 kW!

Fugly, looks like a boksburg special where a guy made spoilers & flares from masonite in his garage and stuck it on.

I love it! Apparently this thing beat the Nissan GT-R around the Nurbergring in terms of time recorded.

Also read in a magazine last year all about the development of this new Type R and was blown away by the amount of time and dedication that was put into making this car. They had top level drifters and racing drivers involved in testing and tuning. Even had a division focusing SOLELY on the placement of the pedals (clutch brake accelerator) so that they were the right height and angle from one another for heel & toe driving.

This new Type R is going to be a serious competitor in the hot hatch market!

Source?

Cool, thanks. It's still 42 seconds off the GT-R :D
The 2014 Nissan GT-R Nismo is the fastest fastest-ever time factory GT-R on the Nürburgring. Michael Krumm crossed the finish line at 7:08.679

Yeah don't see it beating that time :D, as much as I like the FWD hot hatches, the GT-R is another animal.

In what world is 7:50.63 (Civic) faster than 7:08.69(Nissan GT-R)?

Edit: Nevermind, Sinbad was fast on this one :)

Cos I don't drive a haaaahnda :D

ps:

“The development car was in a standard state of engine tune, with suspension, drivetrain, exhaust, brakes and the aerodynamic package identical to those of the production Civic Type R,” Honda insists.

Tyres? Slicks make a considerable difference.

Also, no passenger seat, AC or sound system, they do say that they added a roll cage to make up for the weight savings but that would make the car far more rigid and help in cornering? article says otherwise but Idon't know.

They say they didn't add the rollcage for rigidity. But that doesn't mean the rollcage didn't add rigidity ;)

Judging by the brake/accelerator positions & shape in the pics included, it is going to be harder to do proper heel/toe breaking & blipping in the new Civic compared to the old. Not that you need to blip the throttle on a turbocharged 2 liter - the compression is so low that the engine braking effect when braking and downshifting is not going to have a significant impact.

In the Nurburgring lap, you do not see the driver heel-toe'ing when changing down under braking.
