So they have a nice new site.. lots of progress lately. Good going WBSburst.

Except that the incident report and Network Status dont work? Is this a problem for everyone?

anyway i wanted to quote something from their new site:
What you can do with a Gig *
Download 2000 MP3’s, or
700 Video Clips, or
6 hours of video conferencing, or
send 150 000 emails (without attachments), or
browse over 30 000 web pages.

Is this true... wouldnt a "mp3" have to be 512kb in order for 2000 to equal one gig? And 700 video clips.. i'm geussing those arent exactly HDTV are they?

Anyway, I like what I'm seeing from Iburst these last few weeks, they even want user imput into their site!!! Anmazing except for the fact that i tried to tell them that their new coverage maps are flawed horribly (no scrolling bars, so i cant see my area on the map, at least with Opera.) but that feature doesnt work either.

Looks good to me

The wbsmobile.co.za was talking more about WBS & their Lotto N/W but you even forget that they support the lotto N/W

I was at their new offices today to pick up a new power cable.

Pretty awesome officies, the receptionists even have headsets!!

Since after the shares where bought from G-tech i think things have improved.
Cant remember when was the last time the Soweto B/S went down.

Yep, theyd definately had more money to throw around latley. Lots of new towers and equipment price drops etc.

But all that is just to attract new customers, they need to do something for us! Like 2MB/s? That would also attract new customers so how about that?
Okay i act as if Iburst can hear me...

I guess also expanding in other parts of the country will do some of the current users good.

.................. Expand the N/W to other parts of the country

Not a bad site, but the dead links should not be there...

I think they will become active soon, i doubt they are just going to remove the network status and incident report parts of the site. They are the main reason i check the site every now and again, besides the bandwidth monitor.

Its only just come up, so they probably just havent quite finished with it yet.

I have heard that Iburst will be coming out with a 2mb per second solution soon including VOIP. it is not advertised yet, but watch their press details in the coming days.
Iburst Rocks

According to the Kyocera website, the UTD & UTC only have speeds up to 1061 kbps downlink up to 346 kbps uplink. So then it will probably be the same as the new 3G card. You need to buy a new one to use the new speeds!! :(

Do we need to log in with [email protected] or still the old [email protected] to see the Bandwith Monitor? I can't seem to log in. I can still check my webmail with [email protected]

I had the same problem. Use Internet Explorer to veiw your mail and say Firefox for the rest.. I have to type in my whole email address and password to log in.

Also make sure you log out after veiwing your bandwidth

Nope. Tried using just username without @ and its not working. I don't want to sit on the phone for 10 minutes telling them about it!

Don't know if they're just changing it to keep us interested, or if it's a step in the right direction? I like the new look though!!!;)

It's a HUGE step in the right direction......don't worry you'll be the first to hear when they release press releases as per usual....:D

Look dude, boet, whatever, youve got to start telling us something!
Please your killing me because i know you know whats going to happening at Iburst, and it could be something amazingly cool, better than just 2mb/s maby? Higher caps? No shaping? Whatever... cant you just please tell us something or at least stop saying how you know everything if you arent going to tell.

But thanks anyway for keeping us up to date on the inside info..

When you say a solution do you mean that it wont neccesarily effect all subrcribers and that it might just be a extra option that you would have to pay more for? BEcause all this time I was hoping for and expecting a newtork-wide upgrade not just new packages.

Then I think it best if I no longer come here.....simply because I cannot just give you industry related information....whatever information WBS feeds all it's resellers is confidential.....'preparation info' if you will.......I can however assist with any queries you may have...support.....problems......advice...etc......that I am obliged to assist my customers and ....... non-customers from time to time...you have to understand that the 'inside info' is confidential......sorry boet.

And besides this whole iBurst roll-out implementaton and the service itself.....is in live SA public use for just over a year....the company is, as an ISP, still a 'baby'....how old is Sentech? How long did Telkom have to completely implement a national infrastructure? How long is MTN and Vodacom is business . MWEB? IS? All these companies have the same thing in common...TIME and Investment....they still having prroblems....lol......

For a one year old *in the iBurst sense* to be the first to mass commercially offer a end consumer solution capable of 1Meg,that happends to be wireless and mobile **** , forcing competitors like Telkom (50+ yrs in the game) to then actually wake up and counter or Vodacom to try and find resources to implement '3G on steroids'...to put all these companies to shame..and beat them to the rat race.....is impressive in it's infancy....so.....unless the human involvement starts really stuffing up.....you shoudl see big things from this baba.......

HEHE

****- for the purposes of this thread mobile also refers to a 56k modem!!! :D you can take it anywhere as long as you have a Telephone line.... :D...that's not locked :p
