New iPhone 3GS pricing released

Its pretty much confirmed. The 32GB will only come in White in SA. Everywhere I have called around, they said the same thing. A guy at cacell.co.za confirmed this for me.

Thats quite sad actually... Ah well.. 16GB black here I come :D

Update: No one in Durban areas has it. One Vodashop had one come in, but it's reserved for a client. One???

Interesting to see the contract pay-in amount for the 3G and 3GS are virtually the same.....I was hoping the 3G would drop in price.

what eva....wait till the 3G blackberry is finally released...sure it will have a better price than this thing...

Mind you, if I have R6K to flog at a phone, the Palm Treo Pre is somthing to look at as will be killing both Blackberry and iPhone soon...seems to be the case in the US anyway. You get iPhone and Blackberry users....AND THEN you get Treo users who will never use anything else.

At the end of the day it is simply personal taste and how much you want to pay for it...

Has the problem with the iPhone cooking itself been sorted out?

http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/02/concerns-of-iphone-3gs-overheating-and-discoloration-gaining-publicity/

Last week, Nowhere Else began receiving reports from owners of the white iPhone 3GS that had experience significant overheating, leading in some cases to distinct pink or brown discoloration on the iPhone's back case. A later report from Wired suggested that faulty battery cells may be the cause of the overheating and could lead to a significant recall of the affected iPhones.

Yikes! I distinctly thought Jobs announced the new phones at $299 !!

$199 16Gb, or $299 32Gb. That's roughly R1590 to R2390 for their pay-in.
Then there contracts...
$39.99 ~ R320.. This is what you get:

How come Blackberries gets unlimited data and iPhone only 250mb?!

This is BS

Because RIM actually care about their customers. Why do people die for Apple's products? The Iphone is nice, but that price is ridiculous (come on, just seriously nuts, because you'll still have to buy a data package). Apple have made it clear they don't care about the SA market and what is the purpose of the iphone without itunes? It's only so successful in the US and Europe because you can buy your music and play it on your phone, Apple don't want to start itunes in SA so why do people bother with them?

Cause there is not much you can do with a blackberry :p

And yet I seem to be able to download 20mb files for free, watch videos for free, RSS for free, stream music for free, all my browsing is free. If you don't like the blackberry browser you can still use Opera Mini or Bolt. I don't believe you can do any of that on an iphone and you can not do any of that for R1000 (including 250mb) a month with an iphone or R350-500 (including 2gb [how much I used last month] - but more if you have the time) on a Blackberry.

Bingo.

Because as usual, Vodascum is ripping the customers a new one where they can. And they make such a trumpeting noise that THEY sell the device, but cripple it with pathetic data bundles, no full support such as visual voicemail and price it horrifically (although Core could be blamed here too, another bunch of useless crunts).

Once again, I'll purchase my handset abroad and unlock it. The Vodascum reception / dropped call rate is so bad around my house and office in Cape Town, I'd hate to give them any more money.

Vodascum = terrible.

Also you must remember. If your IPHONE has a hair line SCRATCH YOUR WARRANTY will be void.Vodacare calls this Physical Damaged.Just buy a BlackBerry.....Unlimted browsing.....Unlimited Downloading.....Unlimited sending and receiving emails.

iphone thievery

Hey guys. Be real careful when looking at iphone prices. Got a nasty surprise this morning at Vodaworld. If you read the fine print, the upgrade price is not R2999 ( on my talk 500 package), the prices advertised are only applicable to a special, and rather crappy overpriced iphone talktime package. The real price is R4579 plus a R150 "admin" fee. What a bunch of dipshots.

Well, if anyone is looking to offload a iphone 3G or iphone standard, PM me. I am looking to do some dev for the iphone, i just don't have 4000 rand to spend on a phone, and I am very happy with my BB, so i am not keen to make a switch.
