Seems IS has made an announcement regarding new services effective 01 August:

"Quality remains an absolute priority at Internet Solutions. In line with global standards around quality services, Internet Solutions has made the decision to repackage our Basic Uncapped and Express DSL services from the 1st of August 2010. These will be replaced by a range of services that are more relevant to the market.

Based on the phenomenal response IS received to the initial launch of Basic Uncapped services and our years of Business DSL experience, we have taken a company decision to embrace the uncapped services for the SME and home market via our wholesale reseller channel. Key areas that will be overhauled during this process are:

• The implementation of a fair usage policy;
• An improved billing process with simplified invoicing;
• Billing proration will be discontinued on all our Basic Uncapped and Express DSL services;
For full pricing options and rate alignments please contact your account manager.

IS is also introducing a new 1024kbps service that will help fill the gap between the 512kbps and 4Mbps services in both pricing and throughput.

The changes we are implementing are in line with global standards where service providers are aiming at providing good quality services to moderate users, while ensuring that the network is not abused at their expense. IS remains committed to providing the best possible solution at the most affordable price.

These changes will allow IS to roll out a set of services to ensure that Clients have access to an improved product, subject to fair usage policies. These are aimed at ensuring a sustainable, good quality service across all Clients.

These changes also allow us to continue to provide you, our partners, with high value solutions that you can in turn package for your Clients. "

Ahhh so how can I get a 1meg line? A person still has to pay Telkom for a 4meg line to use a 1Meg account?

Details, schmetails. More info and less air please.

At least IS users can sleep well at night as you can never be accused of abusing their network and breaching their FUP. One can never download anything as the speeds are so CRAP!

Not everyone syncs at 4meg...

IS made a second announcement today indicating that all basic uncapped accounts would be unshaped until 80% of the limit in the FUP has been reached.

Noob Q here: What does FUP stand for?

And from when will this so called unshaped limit be implemented onto the basic uncapped accounts?

Fair Use Policy aka Thou Shalt Not ...

From August if anything is to be believed. (edit - expect lots of FUD about the FUP :-)

Have downloaded well over 250GB's this month without really trying.... Speeds were crappy at the beginning of last month and occationally have an issue or too but as IS said when they released the packages... they were rushed to the market due to the demand after Mweb released uncapped...
Give IS a chance, I reckon these new uncapped packages will be pretty shweet!!

In all honesty speeds do reach around 390kbps from 2am till 6am, and all together i do around 8gb a night, so its alright, but not the best considering day-time speeds and early night speeds. But if IS stay true to the unshaped statement, then i will be proud to say i use IS. :P
