New Jeep EVs

The new Jeep Recon has landed, and it’s a 641bhp EV off-roader

Forget the Wrangler, this is the off-roader of our future – and it’s coming to the UK

Meet the new Jeep Recon. It’s a proper rufty tufty off-roader – as you’d expect from Jeep – that just happens to run on electric power. And it’s coming to the UK.

Jeep claims it’s the ‘only fully electric Trail-Rated SUV’, complete with its go-anywhere Selec-Terrain system, but we’re told it should be equally adept in urban environments too. In other words, it should handle the school run just as well as any wilderness trails.

From the outside it’s still the Jeep you know and love, with its boxy silhouette, removable doors and split side-opening tailgate. There’s an illuminated seven-slot grille, U-shaped daytime running lights, much protective plastic cladding and chunky wheel arches. Underneath those are chunky 33in tyres – with double wishbone and multi-link suspension front and rear respectively – and 23cm of ground clearance. The setup allows for 33.8-degree approach, 33.1-degree departure and 23.3-degree breakover angles.

Should be pretty capable in the rough stuff, then. And we haven’t even mentioned that electric powertrain yet. It gets a dual-motor setup, with a combined 641bhp and 620lb ft of torque driving all four wheels. Jeep reckons on 0-60mph in 3.6secs(!) and a range of around 250 miles from the 100kWh battery.

The 2026 all-electric and off-road ready Jeep Recon arrives with 650 HP

Jeep just unveiled the 2026 Recon, its second battery-powered vehicle destined for the United States. The new model is the brand's first fully electric, "Trail Rated" machine, combining the kind of raw acceleration usually reserved for sports cars with the serious off-road capability expected from a Jeep.

This follows Jeep's first US electric model, the Wagoneer S, which struggles to gain traction. The question is whether the off-road skills of the new $65,000 Jeep Recon are enough to overcome current market headwinds.

The Recon launches with a single trim, the dirt-loving Moab, which gets a powerful dual-motor setup. This configuration delivers 650 horsepower (659 PS) and 841 Nm of torque. That's 50 hp and 4 Nmmore than the pricier version of the road-focused Wagoneer S, even though both electric cars use the same underlying STLA Large platform with a 2.87 m wheelbase.

The Recon rockets from zero to 97 km/h in a blistering 3.6 seconds - almost unheard of in a trail machine. Power comes from a 100 kWh battery pack, which gives the vehicle an estimated driving range of 402 km.

New-look 2026 Jeep Avenger revealed with light-up grille

Two years after its launch, the baby crossover is getting chunkier, Compass-flavoured styling

The new-look Jeep Avenger has quietly made its first public appearance in Brazil, ahead of a European debut in the coming months.

Hitting the streets of Rio as part of a local festival, the American brand's smallest SUV has been lightly restyled after two full years on sale, with the main change being a new front end that brings it into line with the newer Compass crossover.

The headline change is the introduction of a new version of the trademark seven-slot Jeep grille, which now lights up so it's easier to pick out at night, and has a chunkier, more rugged look with the chrome surrounds of each slot removed.

The new grille sits above a new lower valance and bumper, which have been made more muscular, with a touch of off-road flavour, while subtly reshaped wings and wheel designs round off the makeover.

There's no word yet on any changes under the skin, and we haven't seen inside the cabin yet, but Jeep is expected to give a better look at a dedicated European launch in the coming months.

The Avenger is currently offered with a wide range of powertrains: there's a 99bhp petrol with a six-speed manual gearbox; a 108bhp front-wheel-drive or 143bhp four-wheel-drive hybrid; and a 154bhp front-driven EV with a range of 249 miles.

Avenger, reassemble! It’s facelift time for Jeep’s stylish city dweller

Loki, ahem, *low-key* updates are inbound (and that’s the last MCU pun we’ll make, promise)

Three years after it swept its way to several awards – not least TG’s own Best Electric City Car gong – the popular Jeep Avenger is getting a mid-life shake-up.

Literally none of it will come as a surprise: the grille has been reworked (and is back-lit on upper trims, as per the Compass), the bumpers are new, there are fresh 17in and 18in alloys, and the interior receives some softer panelling. Yep, every facelift cliche you’ve ever heard, minus a bigger screen.

Other additions to the line-up include LED matrix headlights, a front-facing camera, and a 360-degree view for those rare occasions parking something this dinky becomes a test of skill and nerve (aka never).

A couple of new colours – Forest and Bamboo – join the list. You can have a black roof as an option. And there’s the choice of two new bonnet stickers, if you’re that way inclined.

That it? Not quite. The Avenger can now be paired with four – count ‘em, four – different powertrains, three of which are familiar: an electric one with a 54kWh (gross) battery good for 248 miles of range, a 48v e-Hybrid one with 108bhp running through a six-speed DCT, and the plug-in 4xe one with 143bhp, AWD and a rear motor that can level a concerning amount of torque at any given mountain/speed bump.

The fourth is an all-new 100bhp 3cyl Turbo, delivering 151lb ft from 1,750rpm and complete with… a six-speed manual gearbox. Now that’s what we’re talking about.
