I've saved up to buy a new laptop for myself, but I need some help as to what model/brand.
I will not be using it for work as the company provided one, but for home/holidays. I play a lot of PC games so I need something with a proper graphics card and preferably an i7 processor with a 15"-17" screen.

My budget is R20k. Was thinking about a Macbook Pro, but I'm not so sure about it. I just love Windows 7! :D

Can anybody make some recommendations for me?

Get a Macbook Pro - you can run Mac and then Windows 7 natively using bootcamp. For 20k you can get a very nice one...

This is the best you can get:

Get the Asus. Do it, do it, doooo eeeeet! Would buy it in an instant if I had the cash lying around. Great specs, and more importantly, great cooling that isnt too loud.

Buy yourself an Acer Aspire 7741G laptop from Incredible Connection, I bought mine for R11000 and I paid an additional R1000 for an extended 2 year warranty. You can also buy the latest MS Office 2007 for around R2000. It has an i-5 processor and windows 7 home premium.

I have one too (Asus G73). There's absolutely no way in hell you'll ever beat the specs of the G73 for that price. Trust me, I looked around for 3 months before buying.
Also, that notebook is listed here for R20K+ ...if you're willing to wait a week or two you can import one from the US for about R16 - R17K (it includes taxes and delivery, that's what I did).
You get a full year spill/fire etc. damage warranty. And a 2(or 3?) year international warranty.
The only downside to the machine, if you're adamant about stuff like USB 3.0 ports and e-sata, you won't find it on the G73.

I paid R16.5K for mine, it would have been about R17.5K if I'd taken the one with Blu-Ray drive (didn't feel I needed it).
Truth be told, you'd actually have to choose carefully if you want to build a similar spec. desktop PC from the ground up with a R16K budget, so this is definitely the best bang-for-buck desktop replacement notebook right now.
Also, with a R20K budget you can save when importing, drop an Intel X25 SSD drive in it and use that extra 500GB as a nice little external for backups or whatever. That would effectively make it not just a good deal, but will induce a permanent erection when booting up Windows 7.

EDIT: If you need more info, here's a great review of the Asus G73

There's a G73jw getting released end of the year I thing that is nVidia based.

But I positively love my G73jh.

The new 400 series from Nvidia is hot enough when running inside a well ventilated desktop chassis, why would you want to buy a laptop with one in it?
