New life for Linux Mandriva

Phew, I tried this when it was "mandrake"... I actually thought it was dead. I didn't even know it had evolved.

They should just let it die, its nothing specail

I could not agree more. Its too late to play catch up and be unique or something special at the same time.

Personally, that time devoted to building this product, could be more well spent packaging or bug fixing for other software and distributions.

As far as I'm concerned it is still the best distro available today. I will continue to use it as my primary OS, regardless of the name. I just hope they don't drop the ball...

Why would you say it is better than Ubuntu?

No distro is realy better, they use the same kernel , just the userspace is differnt, you can turn any distro into exactly what you want, its just about how easy it is to do that, and in the end i would say its the package manager and the repo maintenance that realy counts and you could probably trust ubuntu more in terms of repositories being up to date.

I've never been a Mandrake / Mandriva fan, probably due to me never actually having a need for the OS.

Today I'm primarily rocking Ubuntu or Linux Mint (which is a easy-to-use variant of Ubuntu that has a couple lovely tweaks applied).
