So my Linksys WRT54G looks to be fried - switch it on and only the power led keeps flashing - if you tap it all lights come on then go off - so I'm reckoning a power surge took this bad boy - anyway to confirm this - has dd-wrt on it atm and no damage isnt due to flashing has had it on for about a year now.

Is there a better alternative to this router now - do linksys have a better range thats dd-wrt compatible - if yes please let me know where I can find one online or in CPT - thanks J

Would it all of a sudden become bricked? Last time I did firmware update was close to a year ago - could it not just be a surge or is this still worth trying?

Any current Linksys models come near to the adaptability of the WRT54G?
Thanks
J

I've been reading about the flashing power led because I had a similar problem. People have been able to recover from it. Mine would not power up at all after a power failure. I tried using another 12v 1A power adapter and it powered up but the power led continually flashed. I then bought a Digitech 12v 1A AC-DC adapter from Game set the voltage on the adapter to 12v and it's working 100%.

Hmmm I have "7 Output AC - DC Adaptor Input 240v-50hz , power 23.5W Output: 1.5-3-4.5-6-7.5-9-12

Current 1000mA12VA (max)

Has a polarity - or + option - would this work and what would I need to set it to.?

How much did that adaptor at game set you back?

Thanks
J

That link I posted is just a link to the howto guide... U need to go and download the relevant firmware yourself - from Linksys, openwrt etc... should be no larger than a couple of megs...

Set it to 12v. The one from game was R60.
