that space black does look rather nice....

didn't watch the whole video on account of being on my phone's hotspot with loadshedding and all, but is this the end of the macintoshbook airs, or are they just giving more options on the pros by including the standard m3 in there? i assume a lot of people like the 13inch laptops...

I don't see any indication that they're scrapping the Air but I could be missing something - don't they usually announce the Air and Pro ranges separately?

Nope, the Air models remain but on the older processors for now. If there is a macbook pro that'll be gone is the 13.3" version. Good consolidation imho at air being 13/15 and pro 14/16.

Decent pricing - The mid range 14" Macbook Pro M3 Pro 12C/18 GPU/16Neural with 1TB/18GB @ $2399.

The entry level 14" Macbook Pro M3 8C/10GPU/16Neural 512GB/8GB is $1599. The usual $200 steps for memory/storage upgrades.

Not surprised. They only released the 15” a few months ago.

Realistically, I don’t see me upgrading my M1 air for a few more years.

Sad that the 14" base is still 8GB RAM. It really is time to bump that up
I think the only reason it's there is for the dropped entry level price since the 13.3" will go away. 8GB is more than enough though for Office/productivity even today.

Agreed, but that's what the Air is for. Imo 16GB should be base for a pro device, especially at that price point...memory has gotten quite cheap nowadays or not?

Some prefer the 14" XDR screen and the few extras you get with the Pro model. I think it's an entry level use case on the pro which is valid due to the price drop and 512GB being the entry level storage now. It's just a spec placement for the 13.3" price range.

My vanilla 13.3" M1 MBP 8/512gb is still going strong but the $2199 MBP M3 Pro 11-Core/14-core GPU with 1TB/18GB would be the next logical upgrade.

Mine's the 16gb/1TB M1 MBA with the thermal mod. I haven't even thought about what I would upgrade to.

My M1 Air is probably still the best money I've spent the last couple of years, still going extremely strong. I guess my only regret is not sourcing a 16GB at the time but it was supposed to be an experiment. Lovely machine this.
