Macway has just opened and their service is tops.

They have been in business for quite a while but have opened a new shopfront in the CBD.

Not a single one, they also did not know I posted this and I am not going to gain financially or otherwise. I just posted this because of the bad service I had elsewhere in the big world of the "American Idol." Then I stumbled upon them and, boy, was I elated to have found Mac professionals!

In the past, I had steered business away from Apple towards Dell because of the ignorance of staff at "Apple stores." Dell had given me the most excellent service and support, even couriered me a a Dell Windows 8 DVD at to cost to me. It is only Windows 8/8.1 that caused me to migrate to Apple recently, as Linux is not mature and ready to be used by all.

The Macway guys had been servicing the corporate market for quite a while and worked from offices, but recently thought it wise to open a shop. I just walked past their building one day, went in and started chatting. Already, I was not shown a male cleavage as frequently happens at the iStores and they also know and understand IT. Unlike the iStore staff who seemingly have no IT knowledge outside of their own (limited) sales training.

Because I'm starting to wonder, based on all your threads if the common denominator isn't just you.

I do however agree that Dell is excellent in South Africa and Apple locally just isn't in the same ballpark. At the same time though they support a much smaller username.

Sadly their corporate support isn't all that great (Apple that is) because they simply aren't supported by corporates.

Which is why companies who rely on Apple products have their own in house Apple specialists.

In case you haven't noticed among the multitude of threads the OP actually has no idea what they are talking about and also has a million different ridiculous expectations.

So no surprise that he'll probably want to "pay more for quality support" nonsense.

If Dell wants to do every little thing for him, then best he sticks to that.

AFAIK the OP can't get Apple (whether Core or Apple proper) to get his current Apple product #1 to work seamlessly with his current Apple product #2.
 
I found the guys and girls at Digicape in Claremont to be first rate. One of the managers, Alan Goldberg is particularly helpful and efficient

No.

The OP expects it to work exactly like his Nokia and is now surprised by the fact that it's all different....as any normal person would reasonably expect.

As such I believe there isn't any problem with the hardware...just the owner.

You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped.

If they bought a blue car and then want to complain that it's not red then the law of the customer always being right no longer applies.

There's been a few confusing posts; so any "truth" could easily have been missed.

The last thread created by the OP states they've gone back to Dell (from profile creation, Mac issues threads / posts to back to Windows all in under 24 hours)

It certainly has been difficult to keep up.

That branch recently closed. IIRC the other branch is Roeloff Street, city centre.

Sad news if the Project 3 branch closed. Didn't they maybe just move?

Sorry, yes Roeland.

Saw on google somewhere they closed, drove past there a few days ago and didn't see any "we've moved" notices and no contact details on website any longer.

I know the Tygerberg shop didn't work out, but then again being in such a crap place I never expected it to.

Yep, absolutely retarded location...was bound to fail. Also didn't carry stock of some big items (can't recall which, might have been iPads or perhaps the iPad Mini)

They (or iStore) should open up in Tygervalley Center, there's enough feet and Rand power.

Tygervalley already has Incredible Corruption though....
 
Wembley Square Cape Town. Great location. There is a DigiCape nearby, but you can get raped by bergies getting there, so best is to just go to the gym, get a latte or a nice green tea and then buy/service your Mac/iOS product.
