New Mac store in Cape Town

Wembley Square Cape Town. Great location. There is a DigiCape nearby, but you can get raped by bergies getting there, so best is to just go to the gym, get a latte or a nice green tea and then buy/service your Mac/iOS product.

I work there. Hardly a bergie in sight. Just two small blocks away. Make sure to pop into Wembley Tap afterwards...

No bergies near Robbie Nurock?

But I kid. The Bergies are not a serious danger. WS would benefit from a Mac store though.

Macway has just opened and their service is tops.

They have been in business for quite a while but have opened a new shopfront in the CBD.

Yeah heard of these guys when I was searching for a mac repair place, they gave me the best quote and sounded like they know their stuff...will def use them

Bergies do not rape as they live in Cyberspace. And they say something about "joy Ma se e-pos." Never knew they had email…..

AFAIK the OP can't get Apple (whether Core or Apple proper) to get his current Apple product #1 to work seamlessly with his current Apple product #2.

So the very good iPhone 5 teaches me yoga as I need to stand on my head to see where south is. It apparently doesn't and we are having more than one laugh at its losing its way. The 5S in the household gets it right as do the antiquated Nokias. Laugh at the Nokias but they never missed a beat since new and they just keep doing their thing, years beyond their expected lifetimes had passed.

And, no, the MBP with ML and iPhone 5 with iOS7, both up to date, still do not pair and both have trouble even seeing the iPhone 5S's hotspot which is just 2m away. I have removed the Capdase cover but to no avail. I am not bashing Apple but I can honestly say that phones costing upward of R10 and a R25k laptop do create expectations. One can get more joy for much less money and also not have to keep going back to technicians for hardware support. I had many phones before…Transtel, Alcatel, about ten Nokias, LG and three Motorolas. Not one of them ever failed and some lasted six or seven years until I gave them away.

The most horrid was a clamshell Nokia 2760 that was dirt cheap but lasted five years in my home - it was bought in 2007 and it still is giving its current owner much joy.

The first mobile phone failure within the first three years since bought new, came from the iPhone 5 which was bought new on April 25, 2013 and that already had been replaced by November. The replacement is the one with the "directionless GPS."

I have installed Compass Commander Lite over the weekend, which is quite nice and more accurate than the native app. (When the hardware isn't going awry, that is.)

@alatheia
I'm confused: You started a thread about a new Mac store and now you post about how you are having problems with your various Apple devices. I'm not sure if you are here to ask for help, post information that can help others, or just here to deliberately bash Apple just to get some attention.

I own/owned several Apple, Nokia, HTC, Samsung, Asus, LG etc devices and found issues with all of them. Nothing is perfect. But to keep starting threads and then re-directing them to your own agenda is pointless. If you need help or wish to inform us of something, do so. I know I for one will do my utmost to help you with any issues that I have some knowledge on. Just like everyone else that tried to help you. But please stop trying to say how bad Apple is when the topic is actually about a new shop in Cape Town.

You are getting very confused here. I posted separately my irks with Apple and others dragged it here. I mentioned this Apple store as the people I found there were quite above the rest. They were closed over the time that I had my problems with my new iPhone and just as new MPB, otherwise I would have gone there. For the record, I just now yet again followed your advice given elsewhere and it still did not work. It really seems that the hardware do NOT live up to expectations. I also had a host of other systems and devices, too many Nokias, Motorolas to mention and even a plasticky LG that performed smoothly despite its flimsy build. Transtel, Alacatel, name it. Never had a problem! Now, TWO iPhone within ten months or less, misbehaving. The first one was replaced under warranty by the second, which is less than 2 months old and it behaves erratic in many ways, from seemingly poor signal to a GPS that has no idea where north or south is. I did not come here to bash Apple, but I can say that I had come across rather ignorant salesmen and even technical staff at some of the "major" stores.

The guys at Macway are up to date with skills and knowledge. Their website needs to be updated but bear in mind that they have been working from offices for many years, servicing corporate clients. Apple released new products while these guys were setting up their shopfront and the website suffered. I am sure that they will refresh that soon, but I don't care if they do as I know where to find them in person.

Next time you spend R25k on a laptop and over R10k on a phone, then find it to misbehave, post here how elated and joyous you are. It is a prime product purveyed by sales consultants in posh malls, it comes at a premium price and should deliver. I recently gave away an old HP laptop as well as a Thinkpad, machines that went well beyond a decade's hard use and even abuse. They never missed a beat. If you think it is unfair to compare Apples with lesser fruit, only to find that the lesser fruit tastes better and cost less, think again. We pay up to 55% more than international users to have Apples.

It should perform higher than expected, not worse than cheap stuff.

And I am not the only one…… https://discussions.apple.com/message/23188107#23188107
