New MacBook Pro 13" price for SA

Been waiting for a 13" Retina MBP for months. Excited
 
I was wondering when we would get the pricing & when is the MacBook Pro 13" & Mac Mini officially available in SA?, i would definitely be interested on the Mac Mini, ;)

I would agree... though that being said, retina display is gorgeous. :P I could see myself spending money on one...

See it's easy to make a ridiculous statement that has no basis in fact. Mine is no more true.
R22k is not a lot of money for many people. For others, R22k is a lot of money. Each to their own

Slower CPU and only IGP which is piss poor at any pro stuff (Photoshop, Final Cut Pro). The price difference is small too when compared to the rMBP 15.

rMBP 13 is not a real pro device. It should just be renamed rMacbook. Not worth the money unless you're willing to compromise on performance for a slightly lighter (although still heavy) device.

There are foolish ways to spend money and there are savvy ways. R22K for this device is foolish, I'd say. Why?
Because there is no dedicated GPU which is essential for PRO usage, the CPU is substantially slower and the device is not that much lighter, not to mention the resolution is lower too.

For 2K extra you can get the above goodies and a better screen.

Now had the 13 inch had a GPU and an i7 CPU, I'd say it was a good buy.

Yeah I agree, that's why I said priorities. You see rich people become rich people by spending money wisely, paying double what something is worth purely based on brand value is most definitely not classified as spending money wisely.
 
That is a bit steep but when you see it in person you might understand why. It isn't targeted at guys using Aperture and Photoshop and Final Cut. This is for the businessman who needs to be able to travel with his work laptop. For a hipster or yuppie. I was very interested in the 13" until I read some reviews. Apparently it just doesn't feel as special as the 15". You can get the 15" overseas for the same price as the 13" locally and I think I might just do that next year.

Oh come on. Being wise when deciding what price to pay for a company, or negotiating a better price on your properties, that is spending money wisely.

Out of interest, how much would one expect to pay for this in the USA?

Not sure why a Macbook Air or Windows machine would not be better for a businessman. Traveling is about traveling light - but this thing isn't. It's difficult to know who this Macbook (Pro) is targeted at, but I think it would be ideal for Face-booking/Twittering Starbucks sipping hipsters, not businessmen.

Heck there is no DVD or Ethernet port either- I can imagine the lack of both would suck for business travelers, especially when going places where Wifi could be unsecured, dodgy or not available; or you need to access data on CD-ROM.
