was just thinking about it that this is a smallish car that comes with 85kw across the range.
what is the power to weight ratio of the Mazda 2 vs the equivalent hatches available?

My bro had one as well, bought box fresh, Povo spec 1.3, he had till be moved to Chicago. Then my sister bought it & drive it for many years after that.

That brand’s dying a slow death like Mazda. Parts will be an issue and lack of dealers.

R315k for top spec Suzuki Baleno. More Balenos are sold in a year than cars from Mazda and Honda combined.

:sick:Suzuki Baleno with like a -2 star safety rating? Beleno with a crappy 4 speed auto or a super boring 5 speed manual? No thanks, Suzuki Baleno is a piece of crap compared to Honda or Mazda. Don`t need parts for Honda or Mazda they last forever.

Looking to offer first-time car buyers more value, Mazda South Africa is offering the entry-level Mazda2 with a new promotional price.

In a market where personal transport is relatively costly across the board, Mazda Southern Africa has announced a new promotional price for the entry-level Mazda2. The Japanese brand’s most compact offering in 1.5 Active trim and featuring a manual transmission will now set buyers back R289 900, representing a R46 100 saving on the standard pricing, for a limited period while stocks last.

“For many South Africans, a first new car is one of the most significant purchases they will make, and it should not require a compromise between what excites them and what reassures them. The Mazda2 Active offers both, and at R289 900 it does so in a way that far more people can now consider”, said Deolinda Da Costa, Head of Marketing and Communications at Mazda Southern Africa.

The Mazda2 Active aims to offer a higher perceived quality than its competition. Design remains distinctly on brand, featuring standard LED headlamps, colour-coded 15-inch steel wheels, automatic folding wing mirrors, and a “sporty” stance.

Stepping inside (via keyless entry), the base-spec derivative features a 7.0-inch infotainment system – replete with MZD Connect, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone screen mirroring – and a six-speaker sound system. Safety items include ABS and front driver and passenger airbags.
