New MTN night data times

MTN has announced that it will reduce the time period within which contract holders can use inclusive Night Express data.

Previously, users were allowed to use this data from 00:01 until 05:59. However, MTN has now reduced this validity period to 00:01 until 04:59.

Wow, what horses**t. If they want to make it more 'nightly' then they should move the other goalpost as well, so it's 11pm to 5am.

My worst though is when these companies advertise data contracts for x number of gigs, but half the gigs are night data when you take a closer look. That shouldn't be legal.

They can have mine if they wish. I’ve never used a meg of my night time data

How this advertising was allowed is beyond me.

A fail on the SA Tech Journalism side in my eyes. You all supported this BS. Giving to validity.

So what is the limit of changing T&Cs one sided? They are already bull*/+ us by adding night time data to the usual contract making it look like more data and a better deal. Maybe they are just getting to big for us and we should withdraw our support.

Let's squeeze as much as we can out of these gullible SA consumers......

This is bullsh*t. They should be increasing the time to real metrics. People are in bed or getting ready for work at those times.

Yet you paid for it. They win you lose, that's the point of night data.
They win I sleep. There’s no way I’m gonna lose sleep trying to get my money’s worth. I made that decision long long time ago.

I set Steam to download and update my games on night data.

Honestly this is crap, most providers have their night period ends at either 7 or 6.

It's usually 12-7 or 11-6. I think it should be at least 8 hours. MTN has now reduced it to under 5 hours.

Thats brilliant. They have decided they can change contracts, so you can charge them a change fee, right?

Thats how.english law is meant to work. Just needs some.consumer protection back bone...

this after increasing the cost of the contract as well...already pissed off with this night data con that i fell for...

Are they even allowed to change contracts mid term?
And if you do not agree to said changes does that not make your current contract null and void?
Anyone with some legal background mind sharing.

i'm guessing its covered in the t&c's like the contract cost increase...
