I'm planning on buying a new notebook for around R14000 and here are my two options

HP Pavilion dv6z Select Edition _ AMD version

* Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
* AMD Phenom(TM) II Quad-Core Mobile Processor N930 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2 Cache)
* 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 switchable graphics [HDMI, VGA]
* 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
* 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
* Microsoft(R) Office Starter 2010
* One 6 Cell (standard) and One 9 Cell (over-sized) Lithium Ion Battery
* 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Brightview Display (1366x768)
* TouchScreen with HP TouchSmart's intuitive multi-touch applications (includes HP TrueVision Webcam)
* Lightscribe Blu-ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
* Wireless 802.11b/g/n Card
* Backlit Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader

OR

HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition Intel version
# Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
# System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
# Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Quad Core processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz
# 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 Graphics [HDMI, VGA] - For Quad Core Processors
# 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
# FREE Upgrade to 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
# Microsoft(R) Office Starter 2010
# 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard)
# 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Brightview Widescreen Display (1366x768)
# No TouchScreen (includes HP TrueVision Webcam)
# FREE Upgrade to Blu-ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
# Intel Wireless-N Card
# Backlit Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader

Does anyone have any experience with these two mobile processors, or HP' touchscreen on notebooks?

Why would you spend that much cash and get a 1366x768 screen? Seems like the components are way overkill for such a puny screen.

seems a bit overpriced

have you tried checking acer laptops with nvidia GPU's?

cant remember but pretty sure 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 gave problems

also like Archer said go for 17" WXGA

I want the 15 inch one because it's more portable, can plug it into my monitor for a larger screen.

I'll research the graphics to see if it does give problems.

Also, I'm quite keen on the HP because of it's looks, love the brushed aluminium.
