It’s for high resolution texture data. Games and content creators are really becoming insane with not trying to optimise anymore.
 
12Gb pointless on this card. I have a 6600xt vram normally hovers around 6.5Gb on 1440p and that even struggle to get a steady 60fps on certain games on high nevermind Ultra settings.

There are some benefits. It will still be slower than 2060 Super though I think.
 
I don't know the exact 2060 12Gb specs other than it to be masquerading as a 2060 Super with changes to the memory, but the 'new' 2060 has the highest TDP amongst the stable so I am curious whether it will better sustain workloads.

Should probably get on board with those feeds as well or I'm never finding a GPU. At this moment I have nothing.

That little stunt for the 3060 was purely a marketing thing to combat against the publics perceived notion of amd cards being better since they had either 12gb or 16gb vram. It was not due to performance reasons.

12GB does seem kind of waste on a card like this, wouldn't a cheaper 6GB card have been a better move?
6GB RTX 2060 with 2176 cores would have been interesting but with 12GB this is probably going to be $300 MSRP

The cheapest RTX 3060 at Wootware is R10,499.00 right now so these would be what, around R9500.00?

I remember when cards cost R1500 each.

Gaming is no longer for the average gamer.
 
So they want to make more GPU's of another model because of the chip shortage?

And heres me having just built a new rig looking for anything decent GPU wise that wont force me to sell off a family members body parts. Got a decent system going now, but I will be stuffed if I spend the same on a GPU as I did on the entire rest of the system.

Ryzen 5 5600g (meaning I have the equivalent of a 1040 nvidia gpu, better than a 1030 but not as good as a 1050) 32GB DDR4 3200 ram, 500GB M.2 for main drive.

Those are the main specs, dont use it for mining anything.

Thanks, so you mining using your CPU if I understand correctly? Which coin are you mining if you don't mind me asking...
