New Online PC Hardware shop

WOW thank you that is very helpful.

For a beginning the Credit Validation Function will not be accesable but that is the one applet that i want to integrate.
Regarding the point you made please see below:

1. Aim is too have the lowest possible prices in comparison with major retailers.
2. Service excellence is what P.C.I strives for
3. The menu will be very much User friendly and easy browsing
4. Like stated above explanation.

As for the quote request, the prices i cannot exchange with clients due to confidentiality between myself and the suppliers.

What I typically look for on an online PC shop are:
1) Decent prices
2) Good service all round
3) Good menu/navigation structure (eg. CPU -> Intel -> Socket 1155 is good, where as just having CPU category sux) and the ability to sort and filter according to brand/price
4) Credit card payment method is a bonus

I'm still looking for an online PC shop that can easily create a quote that I can post on forums
Like it has to be able to convert the cart/wish list into a quote that includes the Item name (incl. an URL to the item) and the price :D

I second this , Take2 was like this then they went takealot now well everything is so hard to find

@RaptorSA

I have gotten these quotes sofar, hope it meets your liking as well as beats your Suppliers....

SB-XFI-GO R 500
LG-IPS234V-PN R 1950
B-7300NX R 800
OR
Billion N73X 300Mbps Dual Antennae ADSL2+ Firewall Router R750

Maybe not the most "mainstream" of components, but here's what I want currently from ONE place. (Comx only have some of the stuff):

SB-XFI-GO Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro - USB Sound Card
LG IPS234V-PN.AFB LG 23.0 LED Monitor - 1920 x 1080
TPL-406E2K Trendnet 500Mbps Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter kit (or something similar like the Billion units)
B-7800N Billion Bipac B7800N 802.11n (300Mbps), ADSL2+/Broadband Firewall Router

Not bad prices , that monitor is only R50 more expensive then rebeltech , which you still then need add R100 courier fees to.

@hereticangel

This price is all inclusive, it includes the shipping fee and handling fee and insurance, so in a financial manner it still cheaper than Rebeltech because you do not pay for the shipping and handling nor insurance. :D

Good luck, it's a very competitive industry, customer service is everything (to me) ,to most people price is what matters.

if you have a pricelist please would you pm me or put it up here.
looking for a decent case and a new router

Currently i am compiling the pricelist, however there will be a live and updated pricelist as soon as the Website goes live, is there any spesific tower you are looking for, and any spesific router?
What is your ideal budget for these 2 accesories?
I have a few towers that i am happy to supply to you as well as routers with guarantees on them.

All I can really chip in with is two fundamentals most shops seem to forget:

1) Treat your customers like human beings, not just potential sales.
2) Keep the customer updated. We don't mind delays so long as we know what's going on.

The latter is especially important. Even if something is delayed, promptly informing the client helps make them feel in control of the situation and they're less likely to start baying for blood or go somewhere else if they can see that this sale is important to you when you make the effort to contact them.

@ Wesley

thank you very much for stating the MOST important facts that ANY business related company always needs to keep in mind!!!!
like in any situation that if there are delays the client always needs to be updated because if it were not for them we as the company cannot strive for service excellence!!

Xander, hope your business is a success! I like competition in my favorite market! :)

My priorities when buying from a supplier:
1. Price - Pricing should compete with Rebeltech & Esquire.
2. Specials - Regular specials or combos (Mice + Keyboard, Mobo + CPU, Case + PSU, GPU + Screen)
3. Service - regular contact and updates on orders and response to emails within 2 hours.
4. Website - all components should have good descriptions and pictures available. I hate it when I find a product on a website and the details they give is not the same as the actual product. e.g. Esquires LG 23" IPS monitor (go check it and see if you can find the problem). Also, don't put a component in the wrong category. When I'm looking for a keyboard, I don't want a mousepad there (unless it's a combo)
5. Competitions - If you want customers to view your website weekly, have small competitions to win a game or a mouse, etc. weekly (like PCFormat). It will keep me looking at the website.

I would like if we can get something like loyalty points for the amount of cash spent on products. Even winning points in competitions, or triple points for buying a certain product (like Pick&Pay). These points should be valuable, like buying a R3000 GPU, you get R100 off on your next buy or free next-day shipping. This will encourage me to buy from you the next time I want something, since I get a discount. That way you keep customers coming back.

Will you stock PowerColor GPUs?

Hope my input helps! Can't wait to see your site! Good luck!

Edit: Where will your company be based?

I am wishing you all best of luck onyour business. Most of the guys/girls have covered everything to help you to becomes a success. I would suggest always show shipping in the total price. People hate surprises when it comes to shipping costs.

@EmileS

Thank you for this very good describtion and tips, i have lots of notes of this and do appreciate it!!!!
The monitor is not LED but LCD and thus false pretences.
I will have detailed Categories on my website of the hardware and there are specials each week (normally friday, i would like to call it "Friday Freakout").
The response is within 2 hours always, that is why i have inserted my mail adress if i do not respond due to me not being online for this forum then they can always mail, i receive real time updating there.

I will have loyalty points for being a dedicated client, that will be worked into account.
And delivery is free with purchases.
As for the discount part of the thread that is where the loyalty points comes in to play, but that is the surprise that i am revealing on website launch.

Powercolor i will be able to get yes, i do not keep stock due to me starting this online part of my company, but i do have very realiable suppliers that always deliver on time.

My company will not have a physical shop at this time, but that is worked into the financial budget for if all goes well by July 2013, we will be based in Pretoria, but like said the shipping, handling and insurance is free so we can provide our service across SA.

The model number they give is the PN model, but they give the detail of the BN model. The BN model is a better and newer model. The difference is: PN 14ms response, BN 5ms response.

I'll keep a close eye on the "Friday Freakout" ;)

Great to hear about the loyalty points! Just make it visible for the user and how much it is worth (money wise).

@EmileS
Glad to see that the "Friday Freakout" mhas attracted your attention :D
And yes the loyalty point i am working out a ratio for them but there will be full explanations on the site as well :D

Thank you very much
