Hi all

I see openweb is advertising a 30 gig local with 192 openbrowse!!!! Great!!!

What can I do?
Can I get international email or just surf

What cant I do?
Can I play online games etc?

Reason for asking is because I have many pc's on my home network ( mom works from home, I have frequent lans with friends etc) and we will be pulling lots of gigs...

Will the 30 gig local + openbrowse be sufficient for normal use?? I understand that I cant download p2p but will I be able to use msn, skype, download attachments from my hotmail account, play local online games, stream international video ( dad likes cycling ) ???

Thanks

Hey Bro,

OpenBrowse is a browsing only proxy.

Thus this package is mainly aimed towards the folk that enjoy browsing internationally, and downloading and browsing locally.

Locally, we do not limit what you do in any way.

However, OpenBrowse will only allow you to browse currently.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for quick reply! So my email would have to be hosted locally then? and I would need to get an additional international account for msn, skype etc?

Hey headstrong,

You do get 1 x free locally hosted email address with the account.

MSN does work at times, however it is not guaranteed.

Some users have also reported that Skype works, but we do not guarantee this either.

OK sounds great! Telkom is supposed to install dsl line 2moroz!!!

This package sounds great!!

Thanks MrBeep!

Sorry for a stupid question, but can they do a browsing only proxy with the new ADSL regulation under point number 5... Isn't it like the port priority thing?

Hey,

The proxy isnt an ADSL account, thus it wont fall under the regulations.

Neither is 192k considered broadband, thus the regulations will not apply.

Sorry for a stupid question, but can they do a browsing only proxy with the new ADSL regulation under point number 5... Isn't it like the port priority thing?

so after international is capped, one can still browse at 192k speeds, howeabout p2p at 192k speeds ? international that is ?!?

If you say no downloading, what do you actually mean?
What about my emails that are hosted locally? Is pop and smtp disabled?
If I want to grab the drivers for my video card via http, will that be possible?

lol some weird questions."Its only for browsing" - "Can I download this and that" - "Its only for browsing" - "What if I want to download through blah blah" - "Browsing... only" - "P2P?"

hehe

Dial up mehehe

Is that an attempt to scold me for pointing out the humour?
I found it ammusing, I pointed out the humour in it so that others(who dont take themselves too seriously) could have a laugh.
