New PC Help

That "brand name" is only available in SA. It's a re branded something else. I wouldn't touch it.

This is way better.

R 449 CM-XP430 COOLERMASTER EXTREME POWER 430W / ATX V2.01, 120MM SLEEVE BEARING COOLING FAN / SATA X 2 , 4-PIN PERIPHERAL X 6 , 4-PIN FLOOPY X 1 , CPU 12V X 1 & 24-PIN MB CONNECTORS / OVP , OCP , OPP & SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION

OR

R 599 CM-XP550 COOLERMASTER EXTREME POWER 550W / ATX V2.01, 120MM SLEEVE BEARING COOLING FAN / 6-PIN PCI-E X 1 , SATA X 3 , 4-PIN PERIPHERAL X 6 , 4-PIN FLOOPY X 2 , CPU 12V X 1 & 20+4-PIN MB CONNECTORS / OVP , OPP & SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION

I touched it and liked it. Its not only available in SA. Company that makes it is 11years old at least so its not overnight stuff... So far its as good as my Enermax Noisetaker 600Watt.

But the cooler master is really great and for R599 its a real bargain. only thing is it has 1 pci-e connector

What about the difference between a 19" LCD and a 20" or even 22"?

Do the extra inches really justify the additional costs?

IC have a 20" for R2500 and Prophecy have a 22" for just under 3k...

And while you're at it, what is this SLi business? Do I need a mobo that can handle Sli for the future? I mean i get that what DX10 is and that that is important...

Anyone got any input?

My varsity fees are paid, so now I can look to brighter things like sometime getting a new PC :)

SLi or Scan-Line Interleave is the teaming of 2 GeForce graphics cards. Not really that big a deall in Vista because the NVidia drivers are pretty ****ty.

Go with 1 kickass card rather like a 8800.

Oic, thanks! I don't think I'll ever want to run two graphics cards! What kind of monitors are these people running? 100"??

I am gonna go with the onboard graphics for now I think. And hopefully a bigger screen. What do yout hink of this 22" one? http://www.prophecy.co.za/wide-1680x1050-with-black-p-21427.html

Nice but you can get it cheaper here. http://www.computerstore.co.za/computer-store-specifications.php?products=7952 or here http://www.mecerpc.co.za/view-main-pricelist.php#Monitors

SLI in the context of NVIDIA has never been Scan Line Interleaving and will never be, that's for 3Dfx Voodoo chips which are now defunct.
SLI means "Scalable Link Interface" and yes it does work in Vista with GF6,7 and GF8, quiet well actually.

I will agree though that there is no point in running SLi anything if it isn't GF8 :D

Sorry to HIJACK this thread but I don't wanna create another thread to ask what I'm about to ask...anyone here use a Spyder 2 LCD calibration system and would you be willing to lend it to me?? :) hehe I know I'm cheap but the thing is expensive and it'd be great if someone in the PTA area would be willing to lend me their one. Sorry again for the hijack

What a hijack! :p

You can at least give me some final feedback on my system ;)

AMD cool?
Bigger screen for 3k rather?

Well if we had USA prices I'd tell you to fork out a bit more and get a Dell 2407WFP but we don't so ya I'd recommend a Samsung 226BW or something like that. I'm biased to AMD but honestly right now C2D is the better option.

The problem is that he Intel chips are more expensive and so are the mobo's with onboard graphics...
