Hi,

I just recently bought a used pc.

R4000 for an i5, gt630, 4×2 corsair gaming ram, 19" monitor, 550watt power supply.

Now I think everyone gets dodgy with deals like these.

Anyway, get home and boot up, it's 32bit win8.1.

Fine, my friend gives me a copy of the then free win10 64 which he downloaded. Try to install but 32bit can't read 64bit setup file.

He then makes me a bootable dvd with the image of win10 but it doesn't want to boot to the dvd at all. I am lost and need help please.

Do a Google search for win10 free upgrade for assistive technologies and do your free upgrade to win10
Just done this on a geriatric xp I had in storage

Thanks. As soon as I get home. (Stuck at work) and I'll let you know.

But why won't it boot to the dvd?

And if I do the free upgrade on Google will it be 64bit?

You need to enter bios menu and enable boot from cd/usb.

No idea on 32/64 on your system though

I have done the whole bios thing. I set it to legacy boot after struggling. Entered into pxe (f12) but nothing.

I tried the jumper, it only has the 1 pin on the board and if you remove it the screen doesn't come on.

The dvd rom and hdd is sata so no jumpers there. It's just so frustrating.

Thanks. Seems like the best solution is to upgrade to win10 via internet. I checked and it will allow you the option to install the 64bit one.

I will give feedback as soon as I get home and get started!

Thanks guys.

pxe is for booting off the network.. you need to press f10 more than likely depends on your motherboard to enter the boot menu which will allow you to select the dvd drive as an option to boot from.. pay close attention after you selected the dvd drive from the menu, as you may be asked to press any key to boot from dvd and its easily missed since you have about 5 seconds to do so..

Hiya did you come right? Maybe put the iso on a flash drive instead of disc

Hi guys,

Okay so upgrading to win 10 didn't work as the current win8.1 isn't activated, and the guy I bought it from hasn't replied to my messages.

I just spoke to the IT guy at work and he also suggested using USB to boot. Will let you guys know!

I tried all to boot from cd. I have a suspicion that the motherboard is wacking up. The usb ports aren't working in os, so the guy installed a pci usb board of whatever you call it.

You cant upgrade from 32bit to 64bit, just format and boot from the disk.

Go to BIOS setup and disable secure boot and in boot options enable booting from CD, it will now boot from CD ROM. However as previously said, you cannot upgrade to 64-bit system and it is a problem, as you must get through the entire upgrade process.

Obtaining fresh 32-bit copy seems a problem, it is why I suggest other option. Get someone to Telegram or Email you a single file "gaterosstate.exe" from the 32-bit copy of Win10. Run this program on your PC, it will create a file "genuineticket.xml". Follow instruction how to activate fresh Win10 installation using this file starting from step #3.
How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without to go through the upgrade process itself with ease

1. Validate your w7 SP1 (W8.1) online, best using IE.

2. Generate a genuine ticket of your installation by:

2.1 Copy gatherosstate.exe from your downloaded Windows 10 10240 ISO to your installation which should be upgraded.

2.2 Run it on your activated and validated Windows. It'll output GenuineTicket.xml. Save this on a USB thumb drive or something.

3 Then do a fresh install with your suitable w10 ISO, skip to enter key at setup procedure.

4 Once it's installed make sure your internet connection is DISABLED/do not enable the internet connection! Reboot w10.

5. Copy GenuineTicket.xml to C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineti cket\ of your w10 installation and reboot again.

6. Connect online, it should activate.

You can re-enable secure boot after installing Win10.
