New PC troubles...

I have also had some serious issues with Windows and NTFS just trashing the MFT when adjusting partitions. Currently moving away from Windows for this and other reasons....

I'm considering buying a small cheetah HDD or something-JUST for my OS, can't lose my data again...
I'll try the recovery appz now, thanks..

OK, geez...
I took my pc in today so that the gfx card could be tested..
Tested my RAM : OK
They put in another gfx-card into my pc, still had problems..
Then suddenly out of nowhere : Windows wouldn't start up anymore... The 500GB SATA had gone again...
So they decided my SATA is bad.
I'm taking the HDD back to rectron tomorrow..

However : In the meantime I installed Windows again on an old 40GB a friend had lying around. When I plyed COD2 on my own server just now, the screen had weird graphic-glitches and then just froze...
It recovered after a minute or so..

Now :
Could it then maybe be my cpu that's causing the trouble?
Or maybe my mobo?
Or my bios?
Or lastly my PSU (I've got a new 630Watt Raidmax Volcano-so "not enough power is ruled out")?

It's just still a bit weird that my mobo gave me a "video adapter not present or bad video RAM" error code...
Why should anyone have so many troubles with a new pc...

I doubt your SATA is faulty.

Is this a PC sold to you as a unit? Or one you have assembled yourself? If you've assembled yourself, you'll have to try swopping out each component to see which one is giving you problems (and hope that a workshop can help you). If it's sold to you as a unit, take it back and say "FIX".

A brand new PC should not give you any problems. And one that gives problems from day one, will always give you problems until you get rid of it. I would suspect your MOBO. Have you done any memory tests and burn-in tests? The ultimate boot CD has a lot of good test utilities....

Since you have problems with your hard drive, and then your video card, the common thing connecting it all together is the mobo. I've had more mobo failures than anything else.....
