New phone I should go for

Hi Guys,

with regret, I going to be sending back my Innjoo fire 16GB black phone back to takealot to at least get a replacement or refund,
reason being, battery barely lasts anymore, battery inflating, and that darned spot on the screen (due to the battery inflation issue)

since innjoo seems to have packed up shop in SA, I find myself asking what phones should I go for that are the equivalent of my innjoo,
did like the phone very much, speed was fantastic, and capabilities were unmatched by any other phone for this price bracket

so looking around on takealot, I found these, any recommendations? the innjoo was a good recommendation by somebody on MYBB

pretty much one thing I must have is a removable battery, and dual sim and 5.0 inch screen, obviously android, (would be nice if upgradeable).
also a cover or easy to find one at any cellphone shop, would be brilliant,

I see take-lot themselves have dropped the innjoo, so that means quite a lot already, but hopefully I can get something equivalent,

I got P9 Lite.
Not removable battery, but lasts 2 days no problem. Great phone.

bit out of my price bracket, 4,2K is a bit too steep for me to afford,
looking under 1,5K , at a push 1,7K.

Really try and get the Xiaomi redmi 2 pro, its R200 above your price range, but definately worth the extra R200. If not, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 will do very nicely

Go for the Xiaomi

looking at those, but at the 2 Im looking at,
cant really see why R200 more for the one vs the other,

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro
and the
Xiaomi Redmi 2

they almost exactly identical, but only visible difference is the paint schemes,

Redmi 2 pro has 1gb more ram. Worth the extra moola for it.

Also if you can afford it, get the redmi 3 and on mia website you can apply for a student promo code and get R300 off.

seee your point, but R300 wont cut it for me,
its simply too expensive, if it was at 2,5 id be able to stretch my budget to accomadate,

can anybody tell me why the hisense phone is a bad idea?

out of my budget at 3,6,
looking for under 2k, preferably what I spent on the innjoo around 1,5-1,7 maybe,
Then go Note 2. Pretty sure there'll soon be a sub R2.5k special at Dion or Incredible.

Iv just bought 2 InnJoo One devices at R1200 each ! They are great value for money and their build quality really blew me away especially at that price point . Bought one for my Father inlaw and one as a spare device for home (and to use as a HotSpot)

They came with a free back cover and a leather flip cover as well . I was looking for something cheap to use as a WiFi HotSpot at home when I came accross
these and at R1200 its most pobably the best value for money device Iv seen , great build quality and not too bad spec wise especially for R1200 .

It does not have a removable battery though , but at R1200 you cant have everything :)

How is a removable battery a more expensive feature?

Im not implying it is a more expensive feature (though a rather rare one these days) . The OP said he prefers a removable battery and hence I simply said it (The InnJoo One) does not have it . Was simply saying that at the price point of R1200 it is very difficult to cover all aspects .

good reason its so cheap, innjoo SA close up shop in SA, thats why I returning my phone,

so of course it will be cheap, they getting rid of the old stock.
I going to probably go for the xaoemi redmi 2 phone, I read some reviews and looks like something I can work with, especially as its got active updates that come through on it,
seen some that upgrade to marshmellow, and thats another one of my requirements met right there.

Fair enough , valid points . I got it as a back up device and to be used as a HotSpot at home so at R1200 I'm more than happy especially considering what else is on offer at the R1200 mark . Spec wise it's also not bad with 2gb Ram to boot . I kind of accepted that it would not be getting any updates going forward , but for what I intend it for I'm totally fine with that (though surprisingly it did have an update on boot up) . The dual sim function was also a nice bonus as I can keep both our data sims in there now without having to swap over mid month .

Hi all. Getting my Redmi 2 Pro one of these days! :D

May I ask the 'where to go steps' on the interface to find the place for allowing/disallowing apps to run in the background? (for when I get my 2GB )

Thanks again.
