So what would you guys get in the next few months?

I am still deciding if midrange or flagship so whichever you mention please add range :)

Currently have an s4 last phone was some terribly vodafone thing and before that was an s5.

Only reason I would stick to Samsung is for Samsung Rewards but even there, I am considering just using the S4 for rewards and getting something completely different.

Top contenders are obviously (and in no particular order).

LG
Samsung
Sony

So Motorola Cliq and Nexus One? Specifics may help. Which one do you own? :p

I own the Moto G (3rd Gen). Good phone and not expensive (so I can upgrade sooner  ). The Moto X Play is the flagship if I'm not mistaken.

If EMUI doesn't make you want to hurl, look at Huawei. I have the Mate 7, currently in Beta for Marshmallow.

How about the Nexus 5X?

Are you looking to buy it cash or with a contract?

I have a LG G4, so far my experience has been average

PROS-

CAMERA IS AMAZING.
have the choice for a micro SD.
Interchangeable battery.
nice bright and vivid screen.
quality of sound for music/videos (until it broke).

CONS-
I have had over heating issues with the battery
Speakers decided to break
Battery life (hopefully sorted out with the up and coming MM update)

Depends on your usage requirements.

I'm keen to look at the Lumia 950
http://www.gsmarena.com/microsoft_lumia_950-7262.php

The Windows platform is getting better and better, nice innovative iris scanner, camera is very good, and it comes with Office and a whole bunch of features if you need it to act as a computer as well.

I have hundreds of paid for and Amazon Android apps. unless it's a huge technological jump (which it isn't yet for microsoft) I am not willing to jump ship.

Weird, my G4 lasts two days, and that is with step counter and location services on and using it once a day as a gps when I mountain bike.

Yea, not sure if my wife just has weird things running on it but she charges it all night then when she gets in the car after work it has to be plugged in again (flat or extremely close to flat) and that charge lasts her another 2 or 3 hours before it needs yet another charge.

Then something is wrong with her phone.

My G4 lasts me over a day with moderate use.
