New pirate streaming services gaining traction in SA

Two new illegal IPTV services have recently emerged in South Africa and are gaining traction by providing cheaper access to many of DStv's most popular channels, as well as Netflix content.

MyBroadband recently learnt that many users who previously subscribed to MyFamilyCinema, which shut down due to copyright violations in November 2025, have been migrated to Smile TV.

Lol I doubt most of the channels play anything or they'll play the overseas channel. If you're lucky only Supersport will play. I can also tell you I'm a billionare.

"Not surprised these pop up after MyFamilyCinema got taken down—there's clearly demand for cheaper streaming options in SA. That said, these services usually don't last long once they get on the radar of rights holders, so anyone using them should probably expect disruptions down the line. "

If that option isn't showing up for you, might be worth asking their support or checking if they accept crypto/gift cards as alternatives to avoid recurring billing. "

The older I get, the easier I want things to be. I would rather just pay the R150 and be able to watch the odd Springbok game and check some new movies and series not available on Netflix.

I have F1 TV, Netflix and Crunchyroll subs, so these services are just for the Prime, HBO etc series now and again.

Exactly. My current service also did not have the option.

After I contacted them and tested a demo, I said I'll joining for 6 months but will only pay via PayPal. Guy said no problem and sent me a link.

Remember these are ALL resellers and they want your money.

You know Prime is R79 a month, cheapest of the lot and has quite a lot of stuff. For me dropping Netflix feels like the one to get rid of. For the odd Springbok game go to a pub ;-)
