New Polo 1.6 TDi Issues

Hi guys

I recently bought a new Polo 1.6 TDi. Been generally happy with it except for a few issues which i would like to find out from other owners out there if they experience the same ?

1) No seatbelt warning light
2) "Check Dead lock" message on display when turning ignition off
3) Fuel consumption seems high for this car. I drive an average of 40KMs a day Urban(not driving hard) and getting about 530Kms to a tank. My friend who has the same car gets over a 1000Kms.

Been told by Barons VW that the first two above is normal ?

I have the 2010 1.6 TDI and mine is running like a dream!
Where do you get the seatbelt warning light? This an extra? Mine dont have..
As for the deadlock, maybe you have a dud! sounds like an electrical problem..
As for diesel, i get around 600+- km in town, 50km daily drive. Hard and cruse.. Long distance i can go from Cape Town to Knysna and back on one tank and still have enough for driving around! 1000+ kms!
Set your display to show your fuel consumption and monitor it from there.. Drive economically and follow the gear change indicator and see how it goes from there! Else take it for diagnostics to at least two VW branches!
Also get your software updated!! I had mine done the first week i got my car! There is a problem with the original firmware!

Thanks for your input. Just checked that all the new 2011 VW's have the Check Deadlock message to remind the driver that the deadlock system comes on automatically on locking with the remote. Yours is 2010 so probably old models dont have this.
 
Your first 2000km will have higher economy than normal, it settles down.
but

Why the hell would you want a seatbelt warning light?
 
Yeah its an awesome car. My first VW nogal. The front styling, fuel consumption and panoramic sunroof sold me on it :)
 
That consumption is definitely too high - I get 1000km on a single tank with mostly town driving.

I have a 2011 model - No seat-belt warning (I'm happy, find them very irritating) and also don't think I've ever noticed a '"Check Dead lock".. Will see after work on the way home.
 
I don't see any problems here, are you sure you opted for and paid for "seatbelt warning light", "Check Dead lock" and "Fuel consumption"?

Remember, this is a VW, everything is optional :p
All that is standard on my 2010 Corsa Essentia

Locks the doors in such a way that you can't open them from the oudside or inside of the car. If you don't deadlock the car, you can still pull the interior door handle twice to open the door.
 
Know this is a really old thread.. I just bought a 2nd hand one 2012 model.. Deadlock is normal.. Its just a warning to remind you if you locking the car it can't be opened from the inside. Double press the lock key to lock without deadlock.

Wanted to know where you guys think the best shift is for speed? When does the turbo cut off?
