New Polo

nope, usually 40-70k mileage... you have to shop around though

Took a look at autotrader website.... 120 000kms. For 40k the price is closer to 200...

The 1.6 Fiesta for 169k is the base model with jack **** in it, compare that to the trendline, not the comfortline.

EDIT:
Also if u okes wanna look at 2nd hand, why not compare to a 2nd hand polo? Can get a 1.6 comfortline with 3000 kms on it (2009 model) for 145 000. We are talking new cars here, not 2nd hand... I probably will always buy 2nd hand, but thats not what we are discussing. The fact is the polo4 was very successful and since they aren't increasing the price for 5 its going to be just as successful.

No doubt it will be succesful because most car buyers in this country are muppets and just pay the price thats being asked....

Most people don't turn around and say no to these stupid prices.

I am not saying that the polo is shiit, just that there is better which I mentioned earlier. I also don't like getting recycled engines from citi golfs in a R180k plus polo. All of its competitors have newer more modern engines that for the most part are more reliable, fuel efficient and powerful. I often rent these group B cars from avis and the POLO is always the most mundane.

That's how it starts off. The Golf 5 replaced the Golf 4 at about the same price - around R240k for a GTI in 2005. At the end of life, the GTI was over R300k.

Mark my words, the new Polos will be pushing R250k-R280k towards the end of its life, and I want to see anyone justify that.

Having said that, it's not just VW that it guilty of insanely high prices. They're all a bunch of crooks.

i20 odd looking? thats your perception. Very highly rated car. Hyundai parts way cheaper than Toyota etc. Only reason Polo parts cheap is because they are from the Citi Golf. I20 is only R160k with motorplan and will go forever..

Kia Cerato 1.6 R179k / 2.0 R199k quickest 2.0l car in pricerange, great motorplan, Full house features, Toyota quality.
Chev Cruze R174k
1.6 Fiesta R169k

Not to mention 2nd hand.

Just wanted to add to the above. Irrespective of parts cost, the I20 1.6 at R160k comes with 5 year Warranty and on special currently extended service plan. I don't imagine most folk buying in this class range intend driving the car for more than 5 years. Beyond this who knows which parts will be most expensive in 2015.

From a specification perspective the comparative Fiesta model is about R196k. No idea on the value and specs for the Polo as I don't like them.

posted this is another thread...

the back of the car isnt pretty per say and wont really attract your attention... it's just a little bland....but as a whole, the car is rather mature and snappy looking.

test drove the 1.6tdi Polo this morning as part of the Polo "skylab" launch in CPT. cant comment on "older/outdated" tech petrol engines, but the diesel was great. I have the 1.9tdi 96kw polo and i was really impressed with the 1.6tdi, sure it doesnt have the out and out go of the 1.9, but it's no slouch, power was smooth and linear, 3rd gear had plenty go and it was really quiet... rather a pleasure to drive really. I must be honest and say the standard seats are pretty cheap feeling and looking, but fortunately the one i drove had the leather/suede option fitted ( not available to order yet as far as i know..?) and they were super comfy and supportive. the interior was clean and functional and felt rather premium, much like the more mature golf.
good package overall, but they need an choice of mag wheel as if you have the current range topping tdi, you dont really want the same mags as the lower models...offer us a choice VW..and do something about those standard cloth seats......
saying all that, I'd buy one, no problem.

Funny...nobody talks about the rear end of any other cars...how about a Prius..is that pretty? An Impeza?...A Yaris?...Come on guys you are nit picking!

Fazda, that is an exceptionally bad looking rear....
