New Pricing: What are the options?

I'm currently on the 1G product at R239 pm (Modem included) Which would be R199 pm Modem excluded.

As I understand, I would have three options to choose from without any package transfer costs:

1. Keep the current package as is
2. Change to the new 2GB package @R198pm
3. Change to the new 1GB package @R149pm

Obviously add R40 pm for modem down payment.

You get what you pay for and as far as I know with any ISP if you only buy 1GB pm you'll essentially be paying more than if you bought 2GB
 
Does the 2GB R198 package also have the 64K throttle?

I'm getting a little confused with these new pricing plans. Does Iburst have a PDF or something , the MyBB article doesn't "sum-it-up" too well.
 
Well, accroding to me that depends on whether you still want the after cap option. If you still think that you will need the 'surfability' after your initial data bundle, then maybe you should go with the new 1gb and add the 64kb VAS, but then you'll pay R348, but for that amount, if you don't use much data, you should go for 2gb package and buy extra gigs as needed. You should be able to get 4gb for R336.

No the 2 gig option is only available from the 5 gig option and up.
 
Would it be possible to split two of the options and use one from 7am to 7pm and so on.
So...

I would buy a 1 gig package for R149 p.m
and a 128kb Uncapped package: R249 p.m
So everything = R398 pm

And then I'd use the 1 gig package from 7am- 7pm weekdays, and then the uncapped account in the evenings and on weekends. and when your 1 gig is finished, you're just on uncapped. ;)

That would be perfect for my situation. Is there any way this could be done? (software, firmware update etc)
 
No i think that would be some what... gay. It was said earlier that in the befor time, long long ago the 64k softcap was only available 5gig and up accounts. I think someone just misinterpreted that...
 
Long long ago? This must be prior to 3 years ago as I've been on iBurst for that along and the entire time 64k has been from 1GB and up.

Anyway, I already have an adsl line myself and with Digichilli, Cybersmart and Screamer all offering uncapped solutions at a cheaper price I think I know where I'm headed and fast.
 
Oh well, ADSL here I come (April 2010).

(But for now, I MIGHT try the 2GB package for R198.)
