New providers no competition for MultiChoice

Don't know why they always bother doing reports... these things have been said numerous times on MyBB forums before :D

Top TV operator On Digital Media, unable to compete, recently laid a complaint with the Competition Commission over DStv’s refusal to share its exclusive long-term sport broadcasting rights to other operators.

.. and they can or should use the UK as a basis for their argument.

DStv should be forced to not (necessarily) give up rights to sport, but share it amongst Top TV and the other new operators.

There are four main providers that offer Sky Sports in the UK – BT, TalkTalk, Virgin Media and of course Sky.

Why should they be "forced" to share. This is not an essential service but a luxury.

I rather want movies and other fresh content as a very decent price, don't care for sport, Startimes has not seemed to have delivered yet after taking over TopTV.

To provide for competition & accessibility to more sport for the masses.
The powers that be always talk of promoting sport at grass-roots levels, but when it comes to for example SA playing cricket overseas, I don't think SABC and certainly not now, the others other new ones, have or will get a look in.

Obviously Sky in the UK had to allow for sport they'd paid hundreds of millions of £'s for across more platforms for a reason ?
In the US as well, all the major cable / satellite networks provide all sports & documentary channels, and to my knowledge they differentiate only or mainly in regional programs on ABC, CBS, ABC & possibly Fox to some extent.
