New Regulation on disconneting

Ok, since last week everybody has been speculating on what Telkom's going to do and what the regulations really means for us.

On the periodically disconneting of the connections, Telkom use this to update the usage on our accounts, and try and squeeze us not to "host" or get access to our PC's. If Telkom is not going to do this anymore, does this mean the usage on our ADSL accounts will only be updated when we do disconnect or is the stats going to be live for a change

Just one of many unanswered questions 512Randburg - we're all waiting to see what the impact of the new regulations will be on this and a number of other matters. A lot will depend on how they are interpreted, and what constitutes a "reasonable" time for TELKOM to comply.

Have noticed in the past 2 years that my usage does not get updated until I actually disconnects and reconnect. Always thought that they disconnect us for the above 2 reasons

The need not to disconnect is only a recent development (past couple of months really), but SAIX on their side does *not* use the interim accounting to perform accounting and instead continues to only perform accounting on disconnect. They do however provide this facility for the ISP's who obtain bandwidth from them, such as ourselves.

I am with Cybersmart and you can monitor your usage on line with out disconnecting.Or reseting connection.
