New rig purchase: HELP needed ASAP thx...

I think 8GB RAM is overkill, unless you're planning on hosting databases from your PC ;)

Rather go for 4GB. You can always get another 4GB if 4GB isn't enough ;)

Agreed, rather get 4GB (2x2GB) of performance RAM, especially if you're gonna be buying a R4k motherboard.. (BTW : Having a > R2000 mobo is USELESS if you're not planning on OC'ing)

You can add another 4GB later.

I'm going to use my rig for big programming venture's as well, so I need all the juice I can get...

Good to see eitai will discount us cash buyers :)

Then again, maby I should save the $ and stick to (2 x 2GB) 4GB for now...

Yes, I am planning to have my Q9450 OC'd to 3.0 or 3.2Ghz... wouldn't want to fry my chip

As far as PSU's go, here's a mac daddy for you -->> Corsair 750W
And i agree 4gb should be enough. In tests done i remember 8 gb compared to 4 didn't really show much increase in performance if at all.

The discount will only apply when the credit cards come in, because you will see another 1-3 percent increase in pricing. For now, my prices are still market related (except against the guys who undercut :p) ... but in future there will be a discount, I just need to find an osCommerce contribution to do that for me??

The discount will be either 4% or 5% depending on how much my margins increased to compensate

A cash discount would sure help me alot with this rig :)

How much do you reckon the 8 series prices will drop when the GTX 200 series releases?? If it's considerable, I might just wait with my purchase. Otherwise, I'm feeling very eager to buy tomorrow eitai... that gfx special of your's is luring... any chance of it being extended for another week?

He he ... nope, not gonna carry on the GFX special till next week, but what I will do for you is work out a discount on the the overall rig ;)

Excellent :D

I will try my best to make a plan tomorrow and purchase. I will chat with you via email... got some changes i've considered.

Check landmarpc's website, they've got pre-built systems with 9450's OC'ed to 3.6GHz...

If Andy's willing to sell 9450's like that, I'm sure they won't be killed that easily!

But he wants this PC to last many many years, and overclocking to such a high amount, they won't last as long as they should. Besides ... the performance difference of 3.2 vs 3.6 won't be too noticeable on the average usage of a PC ... from my own experience anyway, but it will give the cpu a longer life.

And I found out who distributes DFI, but they are located in Cape Town, which probably means I will have to sell the boards more as I have to get them to me first. But I will speak to them and see what they say, and will be registering with them hopefully sometime next week.
