Ok so as the title suggests, id like a little bit of advice on what router to get. I currently have some mecer crap which keeps disconnecting whenever it feels like it. Its absolute trash.

Basically i need something that i can hook up 1 computer with and then about 4-5 laptops via wifi. Currently if 1 laptop is connected and another one joins, the router restarts when it tries to add another ip address. I was looking at this router TP-Link W8960N. its R500 + R50 to get it shipped to cape town. What other suggestions are there?

I have an uncapped account from afrihost and the only games i play online are; Dota1, dota2, tf2. So i need something that wont continually drop when i play online. Any suggestions, or comments on the above router would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Something is very funny with your line attenuation values. The upstream line attenuation is supposed to be lower (almost half of) than the downstream line attenuation.

I would suggest that you remove the filters & other phones and plug in the ADSL modem directly on the Telkom line. If the upstream attenuation is still higher than downstream attenuation, then you should test with another ADSL modem.

The TP-Link W8960N is a very good ADSL modem. You should also be able to collect the W8960N directly from Uniterm Direct in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. If you want to go and collect it yourself, please just make sure that they have stock first.

Ok so i removed ALL my phones and plugged the modem directly into the phone line.

What does this mean now? Do you recommend i use no filters? But then I drop whenever the phone rings. Whenever you get a chance pada, do you think you could come onto irc?

Edit: I refreshed connection and the Snr values are exactly the same. 14.1/14.1

Yeah you definitely need something better, that line has amazing LA stats, but horrible SNR and the amount of CRC errors....I am surprised you are not throwing around your toys with that many errors.

That same modem can be had for R580 brand new from Prophecy shop, purely because I would trust them more than I would trust bidorbuy, but that is just me.

Haha put it like this, i am currently at the point where i want to give up online gaming. I _refuse_ to upgrade my line until i get a proper modem. Agreed i definitely need something better. But the question is what would be a good option. I know absolutely nothing about modems, but im sure i could figure out how to set one up pretty easily, question is which one to get.

As for the CRC errors, when I have wifi disabled and only have one pc logged in via LAN cable i get 120, when wifi is enabled its something like 28k. As i said previously, my household mainly uses laptops with 1 main pc needing connectivity. Im open to prophecy or any company that delivers tbh.
