New Sidewinder X3 Mouse Announced

What is the difference between this mouse and the current Sidewinder, except for the shape?
 
I love my sidewinder, but I wouldn't call it great...
The "5 programmable buttons BS" kinda puts me off MS products.
 
I use Linux, then every button is programmable :). That is if the MS mouse actually works in Linux...
 
Its Funny how a $40USD mouse qucikly becomes a R599 mouse here
