Ok so my speakers are fookered. Granted they're around 3 years old but still.

I need to get me a new set and at the moment I'm looking at either Logitech or Creative. I've got around 2k to spend and am looking for some advice. Currently I've narrowed the creative down to the Inspire T7900 set and haven't narrowed down Logitech as I don't know who supplies, who can get etc.

Any clues? :)

An alternate idea has occurred to me. Since I have several sources (2xpc,ps2, tv etc) and PC speaker systems seem to be woefully inadequate in that area I might just get a decent set of home theater type speakers.

That might work, but I like a good pair of headphones...

What type of setup are you looking at? The Logitech Z-2300 is an excellent 2.1 set which pumps out 200W RMS total, and 120W RMS on the sub alone. Will set you back a little over R1000 and it's something I'd highly recommend.

Whichever set you get, make sure that it's THX certified - kind of a nice way of knowing that the speakers produce excellent audio quality.

Ta for the suggestions. At the moment I'm leaning more towards a complete home theater solution. I've got a multimedia dedicated PC and I'd like to be able to easily switch audio sources without buggering around with cables.

I'll have to check on prices and see if I can organize a proper setup :D

At 2K, you can either go for good stereo, or better-than-average 5.1 surround. In the latter case, I'd go for the Logitech Z-5400's.

For good stereo, you'd do well to visit an audiophile shop (not one of those glossy Bose stores in the big malls, but a true dedicated audio shop). Spend 30min discussing your options with a knowledgeable person, regarding the options.
