Wow, thats madness! Does sound absolutely too good to be true. Its also ridiculous that should it work, the testing would take virtually a decade. WTF!

Check this out too. Modified, harmless HIV cures cancer I saw it on slashdot...pretty crazy too.
 
Damm now they will keep more people alive. We are over populated as it is.

Pretty much this.

Although it's not just due to over prescription, it's helped greatly by people not taking enough and then only killing off the weak bugs, leaving the really bad ones free to reproduce. Unnatural selection in action.
