You know, I'm really getting sick of Telkom. What a fukced up company. The more time I spend reading anything they say the more I feel like burning down a Telkom building or something.

I can't believe we're stuck in this situation with absolutely no way of doing anything to them. We've got an old woman for a regulator and a lazy alcoholic for a government. All you can do in SA is lay back and let them walk all over you.

And how do you like that one clown in the article, I forget his name, that says the new system will actually be a good thing? It's exactly idiots like him that are ruining this country. Stop abusers? Ag komaan man, word wakker! Since when is using broadband a sin? I'm sorry, I downloaded a gig last night, let me go and rub ashes in my hair.

Up yours Telkom, I hope you choke. When the SNO is up and running by 2055 I'll go with them and you won't get another cent out of me.

They should change their name to Backtrack and their motto to "We keep you in the dark ages"

Tell Me about it...
I'm in the UK at the moment and I'm planning to return early next year. I currently have a 2MB broadband connection with unlimited downloads and I pay the equivalent of R250 a month. The prospect of going home and not being able to have that kind of value for money because Telkom have no idea what their doing...really saddens me. Oh! but then I see hope with SNO...except who really knows when we will see the benefits of that. You would think these people have realised how far behind SA is when it comes to broadband and its pricing, but obviously not as far as I can see. It really disappoints me...Ag man we can only wait and see, things can only get better...right?

The thing I dont understand is that as far as I can tell very few people are looking foward to this pay-per-gig. However the poll tells a different story. I think there is still something up with that poll

I cannot for the life of me see how Telkom can pull this off in the face of everything that is going on around it at the moment. I just cannot. Perhaps they know something the public doesn't. Did they get guarentees from government behind closed doors to protect them from ICASA? Telkom is pretty tight lipped about it... Something is up!

And as usual these days, Telkom declined to comment in this iWeek article...

I think somebody made a mockery out of the poll. For what reason ever. We might read pretty soon a statement from Telkom saying "even ADSL member are supporting our new pricing" We should delete this poll.

I actualy like the new pricing structure - it makes IS and UUnet competitivly priced in comparison - as with the wireless services.

Come October, I'll have to give my one month notice for my ADSL and phoneline. I'm so gatvol at the moment that, this is the only way to go.

I can only hope that the SNO will use common sense when they go live.

I've spoken to some of Telkom's employees, and didn't even know about the new prices. The few that are left, work their arses off to get the job done, with all the retrenchments and reshuffeling that happened in Telkom. The general feeling is that Telkom is not well. It's rotting from the inside out.

The quicker we just dump Telkom, the better. If everybody call Telkom in a period of one week, and ask to disconnect their service, Telkom will belly up in one month. The goverment will have to step in to save the countries economy from taking a nosedive.

Oh well, I can dream, can't I?

If TELKOM and MNET/DSTV are ignoring ALL the rulings from ICASA, Why should the public abide ?

Why not set up a MOTHER of a wifi mesh network? What is ICASA gonna do?

While ICASA may not be big enough to beat up Telkom, they're definitely big enough to beat up us . . .

As far as the Poll/pay per gig issue goes, um, no, the polls not screwy, there are just a lot of people who read this site that aren't as vocal as the minority that want uncapped access.

While uncapped would be lovely, I think most people realise that in reality everything costs, and you should pay for what you use, but still agree the proposed pricing is absurd.

Uncapped is not the issue and I dont think will ever be an issue, affordable bandwidth is very much THE issue, at least for me :)
I also read a lovely little thing the other day that implied that the SNO will have enough power to become Telkoms 'MiniMe' and no more, I thought that was quite apt, and time will tell what impaxct the SNO has, but I hope its not a MiniMe scenario as with what happened in the cell phone market.

How long have we been waiting for the SNO? Hopefully soon, and yes hopefully they are not a minime corporation, but with Telskum being like they are they might decide to make it so. Goverment doesn't care because Telkom pays there bills, or so I hear. Hmmm.... Think everyone against this Telkom pricing should march on Telkom. Maybe scare them enough to stop with there ****. I mean they want to push there diginet lines more than ADSL. Come on, 2K + p/m rental on a 64k line?

I love South Africa!! A wonderfull country!.... ICASA is Government, and alot of Telkom is Government (no matter what they say to the contrary). They both have the same interest at heart, and its not public.

When Telkom listed on the Stock exchange, the game changed from a Utility company to a "we are only in this for the money".

ICASA are just bulldogs with Rubber teeth... absolutely no bite and a HUGE pit for Taxpayers money.

Look at Hellkom site is STILL online despite Telkoms threats and bully tactics..... United we standm divided we fall.

Imagine EVERYONE that has ADSL (even dont) phoning the SAIX/Telkom helpdesk at the same time - sending EMAILS to the Telkom support desks at the same time!
yes, it will impact my torrent eventually, but you think the message will get through.

Imagine the Star/Citizen/Beeld headlines
"Telkom internet outage due to disgruntled subscribers"

SNO is a pipe dream - the legislation will change to make whatever they do to screw telkom over illegal - as per telkom tradition.
