Ah bugger, thats pretty bad.
Was it because they didnt have an ADSL enabled exchange? are you in an outlying area?
Mine is just for the normal landline, I still need to do a DSL self install after this.

I was also surprised by Telkom's brilliant service yesterday. At about 14:00, no websites were working - could'nt even ping any remote servers. i called Cybersmart, who, after determing that the problem is actually on Telkom's side,logged a call with them.

I thought I would be without service for a few days, so I almost fainted when Telkom called me back 40 minutes later to say the problem has been resolved.Wasnt a big issue(my port assignment had changed), but I was still AMAZED that Telkom had called me back and sorted it out just 40 mins after I called Cybersmart. This is brilliant service and not something I am accustomed to from Telkom.

Cybersmart, on the other hand always offers me outstanding service - so their prompt action has become the norm ;-)

Yes it was worth it...

Edit: You cant believe how Latancy afects your internet. I had Voda3G @ 1,8mb before this and I must say eventhough I only have 384 its much beter for gaming, downloads and general webpages.

Yes my exchange was enabled the whole time I waited. No I dont live in a outlying area. The problem was that my Telkom box that I connect to didnt have ports availible for me. I got hold of some bigshot and he aventually sorted something out for me I wonder who doesnt have ADSL anymore....lol
They where suppose to upgrade the box with nex Tech but I doubt it as I saw Telkom okes at the box and I spoke to them and the one oke was attending to a ADSL fault and he could not give the person ADSL anymore coz there are no ports... how doff is that???

its something to do with the maximum number of ports (connections) a dslam can have. wiki 'dslam'.

Well to put it to you this way when I spoke to the oke who sorted me out he said that there are 42 people waiting to be connected on that box. it that not enough reason to upgrade it???
