I see we have a new fancy usage tracker. Can't find any info on the new feature Integrated Wallet Promotion  Sounds pretty cool being able to use one data wallet for ADSL,FTTH and Mobile :)

So that's why it's been broken for the last week and a bit.

For me, it's not really any different. As an uncapped user, the site just looks different, the functionality is still the same. I'd like a breakdown of the data I use, but I guess that's never going to happen.

It will, but not the priority yet :-(.

The guys upstairs need to get things moving. ranger for new Telkom CEO!

At least the TiTracker works again, so I'm happy. No more internal database errors, and the usage bar is reflecting properly.

Telkom.. It's been broken since the 70's

ranger, since you prefer to completely ignore polite pm's, maybe I'll get better luck asking here in public where other users will soon inevitably want to know the same? Any clue as to when can we expect to hear something more about the integrated data wallet product? Both the "launch article" on mybb, as well as the "usage tracker teaser" have been in our faces now for over a week but we're yet to hear anything further. I'm struggling with an unstable ADSL line while others are posting their 100Mbps FTTH speedtest results, this all the while you guys are putting candy in front of your customers' faces and then withholding it away in troll fashion? not very cool, especially with a product like this which you KNOW will be highly sought after... Apparently Telkom needs to change some policies to ensure that the public does not hear about a product which not even their call center knows anything about weeks after it was released? This despite the fact that the message, which hasn't changed in all this time, clearly advises us, the customers, to call this very call center for information about this product. Sounds a bit like Eskom asking their customers not to use their product - but why am I not surprised about this resemblence ?

Wow, sense of entitlement much?

Something you don't seem to realise, you are not speaking to a official company rep or anything like that, just a person that tries to help out where they can on their own time, no obligation to do anything at all, even answering your pm's.

Me I would tell you to go fsck yourself in all honesty but I'm not him so I'll leave it at that. Don't be a cnut, be lekker!

After a press release announcing the launch of this product, yes I do feel somewhat entitled to some more information by now. I inquired with ranger, but I was completely ignored. A simple "Hey man, unfortunately I am not in a position to give out any further information right now", or even a "Just check the forum replies I'm a bit busy right now" would have sufficed. The lack of any clear direction or more detailed specifics at this point is of real concern. As such I see no reason to feel guilty about my being persistent about this. Did you read the part where I said "Apparently Telkom needs to change some policies to ensure that the public does not hear about a product which not even their call center knows anything about weeks after it was released?" -- maybe you would like to comment on this point, ponder?

On the point of the company's reps giving voluntary support independently of their obligations - don't get me wrong I do understand this and appreciate it. But when you PM someone and they flat-out ignore you, then the consistency of such notions is called into question. I'd rather hear Telkom's on-hold music than be ignored by a person who we'd think represents us towards Telkom to some extent. As far as I know it is good manners/ettiquette to reply, and the contrary to say F*(!& you to someone who addresses you privately and respectfully (after all, that's definitely not very lekker to begin with, is it ? ;))

Anyways the intention was not to start an argument - I'm here to find better internet. Back to waiting "indefinitely" for the "real launch" then, I guess :-) .... in 10 years time maybe after they "first" open it up to "needy" customers who were sent exclusive SIM's. I mean lets get real here? So much for all the excitement. That is what we call false advertising/publicity. And it should be exposed - with no mercy, period. Tick tock Telkom, (PS. what's that I smell? Oh - 123net, vox, and vumatel edging ever closer to my driveway?)... Something about entitlement ..?

He owes you nothing, you are not entitled to a reply! I've sent pm's before without a response, expecting a reply borders on entitlement.

I agree with that but take it up with the official channels, not someone that tries to help out in their unofficial capacity at times.

It's because of people like you that people go why the fsck do I even bother, I would be better off if I never tried to help anybody.

Where's the Telkom press release on this?

You missed the part about manners. Of course he owes me nothing, but he's just a bit of a **** not to respond to a pm, that's all :).
I read all that but have also been waiting for the official press release from Telkom. Everything posted thus far has been from mybb members and a "mistake" on the TI portal.

:/ always a recourse to "where is the Telkom press release". How does Telkom permit mybroadband to publish unconfirmed media about it? It is a lie that Telkom did not pass mybroadband this information directly. Who are we fooling here?

Quoted from the article: “The mobility data usage will be deducted from your SoftCap/Integrated Data Wallet Quota – for every 1 byte of mobile data used, 1 byte will be deducted from your wallet,” said Telkom.
"Telkom said it will provide details about the service as soon as possible."
I don't suppose that the "Telkom" who said it would provide more details as soon as possible, is another Telkom other than TelkomSA? Am I wrong then to assume that the article seems to imply that this information was provided by Telkom themselves?

Alas, yes, we wait... in silence.... indefinitely... as usual with Telkom ^_^

Well that's my lesson learned anyways... Based on how I'm being told we should interpret this news and it's authenticity, I guess it's fair to say that next time some cool new Telkom product shows up on the mybb front page, our comments should reflect a doubtful "IBIWISI" response rather than an optimistic "yay". Just like when Telkom announced FTTH rollout and IPTV back in 2006 or something? Or the 10 meg launch where Telkom promised to have every exchange upgraded by the commencement of the 2010 World Cup - but instead took years just to trickle into a few exclusive exchanges while many still can't provide a stable entry level G.DMT broadband service to this day? Righty then, so don't forget to just take everything hot off the press with a pinch of salt, because, being Telkom, you know... they might just decide to change their minds about what they've already publicized at the whim of any moment lol

Is the above derived from the TI tracker "mistake".

Mybb publishes plenty of info about all telcos and ISPs without their knowledge or permission. Just like this... All the info in mybb's article was obtained from the pic in the OP. Not a word from Telkom themselves.

Entitlement

Fine, by doing so MyBB renders a really useful service, no question. The same goes for "ranger" with his always thoughtful and insightful responses. On the other hand, surely an ADSL subscriber who gets a notification about a wonderful (not being sarcastic here!) new "wallet" facility is entitled to know how access that facility i.e. if it really exists?

I'm also waiting in.... an.. tici... pation!

That means you're expecting an announcement from Telkom with further details in the near future? Well that's precisely what I was doing, and I'm here to tell you that you're probably making a mistake, or will very likely be disappointed if you're going to wait with anticipation like that. Might be better off sitting back and saying "Well this looks promising, but it will likely never reach my area so I'll believe it when I see it". Holding hopes with Telkom is usually a bad idea. They'll either close your unresolved fault and call it resolved, or nationally announce an uncapped LTE product only to offer it to 5 lucky towers on launch, lol. If Telkom wants to challenge this reputation, then they're going to need to become a bit more transparent with their customers; or, as mentioned earlier in this thread: avoid announcing a new product prematurely and advising us to contact the call center if nobody at the call center even has the slightest clue about it, right? I don't think we'd have had an argument on this thread if they'd successfully gotten either of those two things right

I heard a date of 25 Sept, so I'm not even bothering about it until then.

I don't think we'd have an argument in this thread if you stayed on topic and stopped bitchposting.

You must be trolling? I am not the only person who has requested more information about this new product on these forums. A number of threads have already been opened if you actually cared to look around before making such assumptions yourself.

Nice that you heard a date. That means the rest of us should, quite LITERALLY, wait in anticipation without any signs whatsoever. That's bad form on Telkom's behalf and again I stand by my point that they should avoid releasing information about a product which is yet to be released.
