New The PC Build Thread

Yeah does feel like it, but I've also seen people just really try with incredibly high prices
Unfortunately they will keep asking high prices as long as people are willing to buy for those prices.

In other news, my GPU support stand thingy arrived.

The design of the case means it is pressing on the backside of one of the bottoms fans, but it seems to work well enough (as well as a metal shaft with a thread and a nut pressed into it can work).

Saw a 1080ti for 3.5k, shook my head and left, 2060ti aren't too badly priced at 2.4 - 2.6ish still too high. Someone selling a bunch of RX470's for 1.2k hasn't sold single other card then the one I got, and I managed to neg to R800, which is still way too high. 470's 4gig cards is closer to R500 and this was a mining card so should be R300. 8gig cards should be close to 700-800 mark, R600 for a mining card.

Honestly, the R800 was too high, spend more than a month browsing for a good deal, got tired of waiting, and the card is fine except for the few niggles, I am happy, I am actually quite surprised by, it is pretty close to the GTX1650, and performance wise it ran Doom and Rise of the Tomb Raider perfectly, also played some ori and the blind forest. In a way it is also the perfect card for the 4770k it isn't being bottlenecked by it....

Then you get this

Then I wonder why aren't I am this greedy as well, and why are their dumb people still buying these cards at these prices. At 1.4K would add another R400 and get a 1660 at least.

Yay very little RGB rainbow puke....:D

My PC is pitch black, look over now and then, and wonder if it is on.
Mine lights up like it's a 2001 street racing series.
Without a speaker it is hard to tell if it's on though and the motherboard only does a light flicker when it turns on and all fans are quiet

I don't get the RGB rainbow vomit hype train...and for the price is stupid, it is like putting a go faster stripe, on a snail, it is still going to crawl at the same speed, albeit being a target for ridicule and birds, there is no benefit. Sure there are some edge cases where they are useful like syncing them to the performance and temperature metrics of the system.

But you can do that now with certain cases, coolers and GPU's that have those metrics on a little LCD screen, no need for rainbow vomit. I am more concerned about performance than looks, it isn't going to make me the better gamer girl/boy and stroking my online ego.

Been shopping around for plain old 120mm black fans, they have gotten fcking expensive of late

Funny thing is, it's more expensive to go non rgb :(. Plus you can just set the rgb to do things like mine follows cpu temp.

yeah it ain't bad for hydro bearing fans. The fck up it is either the fans or case next week or one after that. Likely going to end up getting the case and two new fans for the hyper212 cooler, in the old system. They are starting to get loud.
The hyper 212 still holding up

Yeah it is in the old system, it has seen 4 upgrades.....775 system and 2 1150 system and a 1151 system. Funny how it is considered a budget cooler but back in the day it was a beast, even beating out high end coolers

It is now pretty small and budget compared to the newer ones. I mean the new ones are huge.

Still keeps the 4770k pretty darn cool. That said I have the evo 2. Which included extra mounting brackets to have fans in push pull config and does way better with two fans. Also a neat feature of this cooler you could mount it in back to front and bottom to top config if you have a bottom mounted PSU. Most cooler now days can only be mounted in one direction.

With the price of plain non-RGB fans nowadays you may as well add a few extra rands and get Noctua’s

Too few pics in this thread. Heres mine problems and all
