New The PC Build Thread

Check power cable they send be culpurt if they too right can even start to burn. 12v cable can be very full of nonsense. Evetech rma is actually quicker than wootware now
I dont have another one to test with. Just the one that was included. So im a bit at a loss. I did think it might be that too, but yeah, I think I just have to take it back. Wootware I have had great success with RMA on faulty RAM and PSU. But yeah this one really got me down.

If it's only crashing in RD2 then it's a game problem.

Look it up and check Steam forums.

And what's the system and Nvidia error crash report?

A faulty GPU will consistently crash across all games.

So I think the 5070Ti I bought is faulty. Basically, started crashing in Red Dead 2. Sometimes to desktop, sometimes black screen that needs a forced restart, and sometimes just straight up restarts the PC.

CPU and memory pass their stress tests. 3D Mark stress tests (Speedway and Port Royal) have sometimes passed, and other times also crashes the PC entirely.

I bought it 25 days ago from Evetech, and am really worried they do one test it passes and send it back to me. I know they are notoriously bad with RMA. I just cant see it being anything else.
Have you recently updated drivers? Nvidia lately hasn't had the greatest reliability with 50series and drivers.

It was happening on my old install, So I formatted and brand new Windows and Drivers same thing.

Ah okay then RMA the card. I had to RMA a B580 recently as well, first time I've had a brand new GPU acting like that.

Yeah man it's utterly bizarre. Did you buy from Evetech as well or no? Need a time indicator from them because I use my PC for work as well so im a bit stuffed now as my old card I flogged.

Nope was with Wootware, so no idea, but GTX Gaming might have an idea, he buys from whomever is cheapest :-)

Yeah it's the only reason I bought it from Evetech was the price. Flippen Murphy's law. Chat GPT also thinks im right.

Shouldn't take too long, Wootware was about a week, they picked it up, they tested and new card arrived.
Im close enough to take it back to them over lunch time and fetch another one whenever it is ready, so at least it cancels out the hassle of shipping back and forth. I will call them at 9 just now and get the process started. Ugh, I hope luck is on my side here.

Hopefully they test on site to have a quick swap out. Had that once with PC International, took a motherboard in that had weird issues, they tested and swapped it out then and there.

It has crashed in the 3D Mark stress tests as well.

Thats the thing, the problem seems intermittent. I have run those 20 loops in 3D Mark and some it has passed, others it has failed. This is my biggest worry, that they say nothing is wrong with it.

They may need to keep it longer :-(.

What PSU do you have ?

Superflower 850W Gold. Bought in 2022. It's worth pointing out I had zero issues before this GPU upgrade.
Rule of thumb, never rule out the obvious, intermittent instability can also be caused by the PSU. A good known PSU or good known GPU with similar power draw. Would rule it out as a suspect.

bad vram, can always be tested for with tester. GPU z build in tester is another good way to quickly test stability.

It is a 3+ year old PSU, superflower is a good a brand as any, but the reality is they do degrade over time.

If you don't have a spare GPU or spare PSU, the only other way to test the stability is to underclock the GPU with something like MSI afterburner, 200mhz is a good starting point if there is still instability after reducing by 500mhz, you can reasonably assume the GPU is at fault.

Well thing is if they boot up 5x other games and play each for an hour without crashing that is exactly what they are going to tell you.

Benchmark crashing is a concern I did not look into. The only time it ever happened to me it was a RAM issue (OC).

And just throwing it out there but all Rockstar PC ports give issues on PC without exception. They are not good porters. The fact that it takes them 2 years to port it should make you aware of that.

RD2 is known to crash on PC.

Just to be clear, I'm not telling you not to RMA it. I'm telling you to make sure its not the game instead of the card before you RMA it.

I do have another PC and can test this, but man Im just over it. Spent the whole weekend on this and its got me down. I think im just going to take it in and let them test it. :(

Nothing wrong with sending it off to get tested, second pair of eyes are good. Evetech being evetech, I wouldn't be surprised if it comes back as "fine" lol
