I have decided to play a little bit of nightfall. Only played it for a week or so before my friends got me hooked on wow.

Needless to say, got bored of wow n i m looking for a change of pace.

Could you guys give me a few pointer as to:
* what server
* what class/profession
* few beginner tips

Much apreciate any help given.

Server does not matter, unlike other MMOGs that try to lock you into a single server, on GW you can hop to any server, any time.

As for Profession I found the Elementalist and Necromancer to be fun to play with. The Ranger is also kinda fun, but to each his own :)

Tip: This site is your friend -> http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Another tip, if you find a skill that you absolutely 'must' have, but cannot get to a city or area where you can acquire it, play a bit of PVP with a dedicated PVP character, unlock that skill with your PvP reward points, then buy a tome (or elite tome) with your PvE character and unlock that skill. Much easier to obtain than running to a end-game area or capturing it from a boss.

And lastly, join an active guild. Does not have to be SA based, just one that will help newbies :)

Just started playing myself, got my Guild Wars Trilogy key and have been playing for the better part of the day ... :D

Now to get a Eye OF The North key, and I am set ... :)

How are things going elf? Still playing? :-)

Yes, Did the samria mission this evening, pissed myself off, when after killing the flame bearer's I found I needed them to open a gate for me, (EISH!!!) after deciding that there was no way to "rescue" the mission, I exited from it, will have to do it again, when I play again.

Prophecies character is now lvl11 and Factions is lvl14 ...

Still enjoying it so far ... , even if there are a lot of things I still don't understand ... , learning slowly ... :D

Yes, I went through the same process... certainly brings back memories :-) I now have always started with Factions first, and it is still my best campaign. I usually always start there and level quickly and then move to the others. Proph is certainly the best for starting out and learning. AFTER you have finished one of those campaigns, then I think move to Nightfall as then you will be introduced to "Heroes". But for now enjoy the game in its original form without the help of heroes. I remember the frustration of some of those early Proph missions espeically as one could quite easily get lost.
Let me know what you in-game-name is if you want, and I can give you a hand sometime if you wish when I am around.

What games are about ... :D

Not likely to be on much in the next week or so, but in Prophecies, the in-game-name is Java Elf and in Factions Chai Elf ... :)

Kewl, ok, I will put in Java Elf in my friends list. The game will auto pick up the other character names that you use on the same account. My ign is Enola B Twenty Nine.

Thanks, will add you to friends list as well - only experiencing one problem at the moment, "Althea's Ashes" - at the Flame Temple Corridor, I get trashed in seconds, think, by Charr Sharmen, possibly a few of them, will give that one some more thought, before trying it again, is also a long hike from Piken Peak :(

Maybe I need to radically change my equipped skills ...

I had same problem, until I:

1) Took 20 level help or went when i was 15+ level.

2) Went from Greedich Courthouse.

Otherwise it is very hard.

Well, now I can get to the Temple before taking major strain, those types in the Temple are very rough ... :)

Otherwise have reached Yak's Bend ...
