Hey guys,
so i've been down here at the coast since March and i'm not really making any decent friends. During the easter season i met my neighbours kids and some random dude they had with them on the beach.I got along with them well enough but they obviously back to Varsity in Jhb so i'm kind of a loner when they not around.I had a decent circle of friends in Jhb and even if there was nothing to do,there was always someone not doing anything so we would do nothing together :) Down here i just feel like an outsider. The beach is sometimes busy with a few groups of guys/girls but they seem a bit younger than me and i just get that feeling that they don't want to be bothered.

I just want to know when any of you moved to a new city/town ,if you initially had a problem meeting new people etc. Also i've never been the most confident person to just casually walk up to people and 'make friends'. I have been getting over those issues by speaking to random people in the street. Also do you guys recall how you met most of your good mates? Was it through other people or was it just pure luck you met. Most of my life i've met people through school or through other folk but now i feel like a walking ghost at times :o I'm moving back to Jhb next year possibly but i mean i would like to build a decent friend base down here...it is the coast after all!

Yeah i don't know ...i thought by now i would have at least met one guy/girl who i can confide in etc but that is just not happening for $hit.MyBB is my only friend at the moment :p.... and Facebook.I just need some real people you know. Sigh.

Had a similar situation moving to Cape Town. Particularly with the female population.

People are just not as friendly as they are up in Joburg. Or are friendly when you meet up, but trying to arrange a repeated meeting is like asking them to visit a dentist!

Eventually started meeting up with people who were friendlier and who weren't as cliquey (all male, though). And I realised recently that they're mostly from other places and moved to CT themselves.

So... seek out people in the same situation? I have no advice to offer; sorry.

EDIT: Arrange to meet up with people you get along with on MyBB?

Lets ask what town you in now?

Maybe there is someone on MyBB that can tell you where to hang out to actually meet people.

Well copacetic and you?

I know MickeyD just like to look at the lemon maran blocking his view of the sea.

I am in exactly the same position. I have no friends save for 1 or two and I hardly see them. Only difference is that I have lived here for practically all my life. Are you in CPT, or Durban?

On MyBB as well lol.

My social life has gone down the drain.

If I do go out somewhere, it'll probably be Pool City or the Folk Club, or something along those lines.

Well I seem to have an added problem, I am working when you lot sleep and social when you are at work. :)
