So I am looking at upgrading my current tv in the lounge. Currently have a 55" LG FHD TV and love it.

Looking to go 65"+ UHD. Have a budget of around R20k - not the most but I'm sure I can find something.

This is what I am currently looking at: https://www.makro.co.za/electronics-and-gaming/lg-/br-65-165-cm-smart-super-uhd-led-tv-320321EA

It seems to support the latest HDR and Dolby vision which is good.

TV is mainly used for Sport, Netflix, Plex and gaming with xbox one s (has support for 4k and hdr gaming).

Is there something better out there in my price range or is that a really good deal.

Let me know your thoughts please.

Thanks.

Subscribed. Also looking at this TV. Only other TV in this bracket is the Hisense 65 ULED. But my gut says go with LG rather.

I saw the Hisense too. It R5k cheaper and seems to have sismilar specs (but I'm a noob when it comes to tv specs so could be wrong).

Anyone have the Hisesne one maybe?

I've only had LG for my last 3 tvs as the picture quality has always been excellent so also leaning more towards the LG.

The LG supports both the HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR standards with no mention on the Hisense about it.

Yeah I was also thinking about that Hisense, I see its back up to R18 999 so the LG is now a no brainer.

I have an LG 47' at the moment and its great. No issues with them.

Be sure to confirm if the PLEX app will work or can be found on the LG App store.

I may be mistaken, but somehow the PLEX app can no longer be found on the LG Store.

This won't concern me as I use Roku and Apple TV 4. Come to think about it I don't think I've ever used the smart feature on any of my tvs before...

100% no brainer then. Need to see when the special on the LG ends maybe?

Edit: I see its from 30 July to 7 August 2017.

Haha exactly. When you said Hisense price changed I refreshed my browser tab a few times to check the price for the LG was still the same.

That's a great price! The 55" has been hovering between R13500-R15000 for a while now.

Also been looking at the 55" B6 OLED, which is now on special for R30000 at a few places. But this 65" for R10000 cheaper may just convince me otherwise.

So I bought the LG tv. Haven't set it up yet as I need to first install bracket in the other room to hang the old tv.

I called Makro in Milnerton (Cape Town) and they only had 2 left so asked them to keep one for me. The guy said they sold a few every day so far.

Just be warned, the box is MASSIVE - just barely fitted in my car.

If anyone keen to buy one just call before and make sure there is stock.

One thing to note, the blu-ray player you get for free, on the advert says "worth R1299" but when they scanned it price came out as R1099 - not an issue as I won't use it, just thought it was funny.

Land Rover Sport (new 2017 model) so it's a big car and box took up all the space in the back with seats down.

Which bracket? I need one as well.

I have Plex on mine.

Very nice looking TV!

Any opinion on this LG we are talking about?

I was looking at buying the one that you guys are after, but... I decided to go with the extra HLG and technicolour stuff to future proof myself.
