Small 4k/UHD TV - Bedroom

Hi,

Looking for recommendations:

Want a 4K/UHD TV for bedroom, seems the smallest are around 43 inches for 4K/UHD.

So I want Dolby Vision, HDR/HDR 10
Dolby Atmos etc. Stuff the cheapies don't seem to come with, preferably QLED. And I am going to peg the budget in the R10 000 region, tho there is some flexabilty to be had.

First choice would be a Samsung model.

Skyworth and Hisense, second choice.

TCL, Toshiba, and a few others may be considered.

Firstly you wont get any HDR on a 43''
Secondly Samsung doesnt have dolby vision.

You can only get HDR on 55'' or higher. Since budget is a constraint, get a Hisense.

I know hdr isnt limited by screen size, But 43'' TVs are skimped compared to 55'' and above, Either to keep their prices lower or due to the compact body size.

Just because it says HDR doesn't mean it will actually display it. Many Tvs say HDR in the specs but dont really display it in the real world, it is a marketing gimmick.

There is a difference in a 43'' and a 55'' TV even if the model is exactly the same, they will have different hardware and capabilities.

The fact that it's a 12k 43" and part of the higher end Samsungs should kinda tell you it's not the normal 43". You do get some older LGs that support HDR

I agree with that, But Perfomance still wont be the same as the equivalent 55'' model. The 43 will have some restrictions.

So a quick glance on the samsung site, The 55'' and above has HDR+ which they claim is twice as bright and vivid compared to HDR. The 43 only has HDR. Difference number 1.

Difference number 2 - The 55'' and above have a top channel speaker for enhanced sound whereas the 43 doesnt.

I am sure there are a lot more differences but i am not in the mood to look them up.

R12K is a lot of money for a 43'' LCD TV. Even for one that can bake you cookies every morning.
 
42 inch for R12k? Lol there are easier ways to waste your money.
 
No regrets yet with a 55 C755 - just needed a little tweaking out of the box as the reds were a little extreme.

The Samsung QN90 is pretty good, we have the older Q90B 43" in the bedroom and I'm still impressed by the picture quality, regardless of the on-paper specs.

I do recall the 55" and larger models had slightly better specs, but we only had room for a 43".

Many thanks, about where I ended up - with my searching, a little more expensive than I want to spend, but will see.

Problem is, - the 55 Inch TV in the lounge, is more than big enough, in that space - in the bedroom it would be way too big - so moot point.
