I hear rumors about some kind of bigger pipeline or something and faster internet for everyone in July.

Something about a new undersea cable...

Does anyone have info on this?

It sounds exciting!

Probably Seacom?

We can only hope about better bandwidth prices. This is SA, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't think the cable affects the speed at which we can use that bandwidth, as that is dependant on on-land infrastructure.

hopefully get better and cheaper uncapped options!

I dont think we will see major price decreases... they might offer us more but at the same price.

I hope telkom introduces they new 8mb/s service and bumps everyone on 384k to 1mb

Hey good people please remember that 3GB is all you need - anything more is abuse!

3GB wouldnt even last me 2 days on a 128k line lol, i think that prices (as well as services) wont change much as all the big guys want high dividends so we not gonna see much differance, but the big guys will just see bigger dividends so they wont complain

ROFLMAO

- "So true..."

sorry cant stop laughing to make proper comment LOL

No I'm sure he meant 3.. Because.. they all dictate to us how much an average person would use.. They think they know how much we want to use, but no.

Hopefully with Poison Ivy leaving and the ANC (hopefully) loosing the elections we will see prices drop, otherwise nothing will change. They keep feeding us lies about it, trying to brainwash us into believing their reasons for high prices.. Will continue to do so if the ANC wins again *sigh*

Yes, I did indeed mean 3GB. Apologies if the sarcasm was missed by some. It was of course a reference to a statement made by Telkom or some other beast a few years ago when the 3GB was decided on. And yes 3GB is pathetic!

lol... I remember that. I also remember whenever you hit your 3GB soft cap on TelkomInternet they'd e-mail you and warn you about you "potentially abusing the service."

3GB? What the hell do you do with it??? 50GBs would be reasonable. Especially if you take into account online gaming, free (legitimate!) downloads, web 2.0 services and online TV, web-streaming, whatever.

Oh please, Santa, for Christmas this year give me real internet.
