The normal cameras used for enforcement purposes need to be approved before hand as well as the location where they will be used. I guess what the above means is that this do not apply to those they use in the 'ghost' vehicles.

In any case they're working towards their 14th checks now, putting up roadblocks all over to harass people and pulling people over on the most rural roads ever..

Saw one on the N3 just off Rivonia road, I was driving on Witkoppen and it was pretty easy to get to......

They normally face them so they take photos of the rear of your car and they place them behind the small blue highway markers. I often see them flashing away in my rear view mirror. Seen a few of them on the n1 and recently n3 north just after the malboro Bridge.

I recon the device snaps a full picture of all the lanes as soon as a car triggers it, highlighting the trigger vehicle or similar. Cops then crop out your car and send you a fine, which is why the quality of your licence plate is borderline.
