Getting 2morrow:
Core 2 Duo 2.8 with ESI MB with 2gig ddr2

Few questions:

1)How much faster will this pc be than my old AMD 64 3200+ with 2 gig DDR400 i HAD 2 years ago?

2)Will that be a reasonable pc? (BF2 and dvd's)

3)Will my 250w PSU be ok UNTIL i order my HD4770?

4)Will the iSONIC 490w (R316) be OK for the HD4770 and 1 HDD and DVD writer...? [http://www.faithful.co.za/index.php...on=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1]

Thx for replys...

Well, It's respectable in as much as turning up at a rugby match in your pyjamas. That said, it will do the job, but you ain't gonna be catching any chicks..

;)

You need at least a quad core with 4GB ram... for a bit of street cred.

And a 4890 :P

Your PSU will fall over horribly. You should get the CoolerMaster 650 or higher series.

But to answer your question, yes it will out perform your old PC by quite a bit.

dont have money for that kind of PSU..must i rather dont buy the stuff then ?

The PSU should be just fine for that setup - even with the new GPU you're planning on getting.

The bigger PSU is really only going to be needed for a really more powerful setup.

Try not be put off by the haters ;)

Your new PC will be a hundred times faster than your old one. In general use moving from an AMD3200+ to a 2.8 C2D, will be a bigger improvement than going from a 2.8 C2D to a Quad.

Your power supply SHOULD be ok, until the new card. I say should because I ran a core 2 duo on a 250watt power supply, and it ran fine. I would then say that the 490Watt SHOULD run, again, because I run a 7900gs, 2HDD, DVD on a 400Watt supply....

Use this to help calculate:

I don't know why these guys are recommending such expensive stuff when it's obvious you're on a budget.

Try to get enough money to get the cooler master 390watt. I really wouldn't trust an isonic power supply.

got the 2.8 duo 2, 2 gig ddr2 , Elitegroup MB and to my suprise my PSU did only have 20 pins..had to go back to town and buy a new one...R250 for n 450w :P

AND MAN! ITS WAY FASTER!!! My Piggs poker IS SUPER NOW!! even with onboard GPU!

Flame, everything is relative....
Yes, the upgrade will make your PC faster, nice.
Now, will it make BF2 faster? I say only slightly, if you keep everything else the same.
To get faster load times in games, you will have to look at HD performance.
Make sure you defrag your drive often.
For faster FPS, graphic cards is the way to go :)
You do not mention what card you have at this moment, but by just upgarding your GPU you would already have gained a lot with regards to FPS.
Anaway, the max res on BF2 is 1600x1200.

Enjoy the new hardware :)

in bios the ram show 266 if its on auto or u can set it to manual and can choose 667 and 800 ...now i dont want to mess their on a brand new upgrade.

now i ask u..must it be 266?
if any of u clever guys can help me, leave meur email and ill take a pic or 2 of bios screens and u can tell me if its right. Not that im stupid..i just had a gaming pc 2 years last..outdated a bit.
