Then we mustn't forget the famed British "boil the green out of it" school of vegetable culinary art.
My step-gran was a big fan of this method. I'll never forget her cauliflower and cabbage soup that was started before church on the Sunday morning and eaten at around 14:00 for lunch. Here are the ingredients: cauliflower; cabbage; water; salt. It's pretty impressive if you're a professional soap-taster.
I must admit, old school Afrikaans families have a similar approach to cooking. If it wasn't alive to begin with, then apparently you have to kill it twice before eating it...:wtf:
